Clutch replacement day 1

What a day. Read everything I could find here plus my service manual. Here’s what I learned:

1. There are 8 bolts holding the cradle to the frame, not 6 like my manual shows. It’s a wonder we didn’t break the cradle in the 3 hours we spent fighting with it before we found the two front bolts hidden by the brake ducts.

2. The pins holding the shifter in place weren’t as bad as I thought. Definitely need 2 people.

3. The flywheel is extremely heavy. Excited to see how the aluminum Katech flywheel does.

4. The slave cylinder from GM no longer has a bleed port. I found the old one in stock at Tick Performance. I already had the Katech remote bleed cable so I definitely wanted to use it.

Since I have to wait on the slave cylinder we are done for now. Long day.

What's up with the bleed port going away? Do they expect you to reverse fill it, I guess? And if so, from what port? Lol

Steel flywheel to aluminum flywheel, what’s the
Difference in weight? 37lbs versus 12 lbs, am I reading that right?

Nice work! Really interested to hear your feedback on the aluminum lightweight flywheel.

While you're in there, might consider a Hurst short throw shifter. I have no experience with that product on a TR6060, but have heard positive things from the few that have them. I assume most folks don't do a short throw on these cars given the trans has to come out -- but your trans is already out.

FWIW, I'm pretty happy with the stock shifter, but something to think about while you wait on the slave.

Yeah, weird move. I assume they want you to vacuum bleed the clutch through the master and pump the clutch a billion times.

Yes, they claim a 24.5 lb reduction, so 25 lbs is about right:

I wonder how slow/smooth take off will be impacted. Even harder to do that gracefully with that long long 1st gear. Now you know my life priorities...

Yes, it will be interesting, less rotating mass, will spin up
Faster, but initial launch from stop, might be more
Frustrating.

This should be interesting when starting from a stop.

May be even more touchy due to the inertia decrease with the aluminum

Yes, it should be lots of fun, to launch this from a light
Without motor stalling, or playing with the gas pedal!
