GM Performance CAI?
Can anyone confirm this is available for a 2022? It seems like everything I find online stops at 2020. I found one website that listed an LGX cold air intake as a GM performance part but not the one that cold air inductions use to make.
If so please point me in the right direction! Trying to maintain factory warranty here! |

But no factory-authorized tune at the dealership anymore, correct?

I was looking for one in 2021 but didn't have any luck finding one. The local parts guy asked his regional why they couldn't order one through parts anymore, he said it was because the dealers weren't consistent on updating the ECU when installing and that was now a problem for GM. Don't know how true this is but I haven't been able to find one in 2 years so good luck.

Do you know if these still require the factory tune?

Suggest you call the vendor to verify if tune is needed.

The GM and CAI units look the same but the internal construction is different. That’s why the GM unit was CARB compliant and the CAI is not.
The GM CAI requires the tune to recalibrate the MAF signal but the CAI unit does not. |

When I purchased my '23 LT1, the dealer said they no longer did the CAI install, I wonder now if they were just bluffing or not wanting to do it. Really want to do some mods, but I'm not in a place to afford a new car if something happens lol. Was hoping the dealer could do it so it didn't void the warranty...

My SS came with one when I bought it. So, what's so special about it? Planning on upgrading to a Roto unless there's something special about the GM CAI I don't realize at the moment.

Other than being 50 state legal, any other reasons?
Should I upgrade to a Roto or just stick with the GM? Florida has no testing so its not a big deal for us what's legal and isn't.

I would stick with what you currently have (GM CAI) until to start/plan on adding mods to the car. The Rotofab CAI is nice and can be tuned (Big Gulp version) with the mods.
No real gains going to Rotofab in you current setup.

GM CAI not available after 2022
Looking at the gmparts online website corroborates what I saw while shopping for the car. The 2022 configurator allowed you to select the GM CAI. But in 2023 it was no longer an option. My guess is legal issues around the tune required. Posts seemed to indicate it would run fine stock with a few HP gain if any, but with the tune you got a few more HP plus added throttle response.
I would persue the gm cai/tune option if it was still an available option, but no way do I see them ever bringing that back as a warrantiable item. So, for me to break the warranty glass, it would be for CAI/IM/headers/tune minimum, shooting for a little over 500 crank. https://www.gmpartsonline.net/oem-pa...IFJlc3VsdHM%3D |
