Rear main seal replacement
So I have a very slow leak from the rear main seal. I got a quote on replacing it and it was $2500. I have not dealt with this before, is that a reasonable amount for this sort of thing?
Should I try one of these oil leak stop or rear main seal repair fluids or will that cause more problems?

I would not try any sort of “stop leak”. I would shop around for quotes. 2500 seems high. I believe the book calls for 8 hours of labor to r and r the transmission (I could be wrong about this). At say $115 an hour for labor I believe this job (parts and labor) should be between 900-1200 bucks.

I wouldn't try a stop leak but you could try high mileage oil if its a slow leak.

Switch to the Dexos2 spec oil if you haven't already. 0w-40.
