8-12 weeks?

So I'm in talks with multiple dealers to order a 2SS 1LE. Most say 8-12 months which sounded more right. But then some others say they for sure have allocations and 2-3 months once placed. Does that even sound right or they just want their non-refundable deposit? (The ones that claim that are non-refundable deposits)

In Michigan it is illegal to keep your deposit. I even have a form from my dealership that says my deposit is 100% refundable for any reason. Surprised that would be allowed in Florida.

Larger volume dealerships to get allocations quicker but I wouldn't listen to them promising you anything.

Georgia has some non refundable deposit dealerships as well but honestly I would try to avoid those. At least make sure its refundable until the allocation gets picked up and it actually goes towards your purchase. A dealership here tried to tell me there was a $1000 non refundable deposit AND they couldn't promise me the car at MSRP without at least doing several grand in add ons.

Finally found a dealer that did a $500 refundable deposit anytime, and will sell me the car without add ons and no markup, so I went with them even if I did have to wait a little longer. 2SS 1LEs are slow right now, and likely will be until they are all gone. Be prepared to wait and have it be a 2024 model.

One of the non-refundable dealers said that all pricing was done upfront for the car and financing and a trade-in so that it was locked in before ordering the car. Sounds like they were confident in a 3-month timeline.

My dealer said it would be a "month, or 3 months, or 6 months, or never... nobody knows" when I gave them a deposit and my order was submitted. 3 months and 3 days later, my 2SS 1LE arrived.

They might be just guesstimating based on their current or near future sales of similar vehicles. Its almost impossible to predict when and how many allocations they would get in the near future.

THe important part is what's in between those two events, i.e., how many orders the dealer has in front of yours. They can get allocations but if they get 1-2 a month for a 2SS 1LE, and they have 20 orders ahead of yours, you're screwed.
12 months is about a right. However you go about it don't think less than 12 months.

This is how I tried to get my 21 ZL1 ordered, I had a pretty fair deal agreed upon but it was like a week later that the first chip shortage shutdowns started to happen.

When I later had a 22 on order, and then my 23(!) I failed to do that, get a written deal and base things off a great guy that then passed away and it left me hanging with MSRP + ADM, which wasn't a deal break but at the moment I made a crucial error in not having an agreed upon price when the order went in.

I wouldn't recommend signing any kind of financing arrangement (purchase or lease) prior to the vehicle arriving at the dealership, regardless of what the dealership tells you. One poster here claimed he was making lease payments and had not taken delivery of his car.

Yep I remember that guy was making payments on car loan that didn't even have a car or was still at 1100 status...WILD.
