Well Ford engineers have to be careful that they dont make the Mustang handle too good. After all they need to keep up their reputation for trying to kill crowds at car shows. They've won that award year after year, and Im sure they dont want to give it up.

To put it bluntly, the Camaro is in another league, with legitimate supercars.

When I asked our handling guru Kim Reynolds what he thought about the two cars after lapping them, he looked first to the Camaro then disparagingly glanced at the Mustang and said,

“There’s about 4,000 years of evolution separating the two.”

Never thought i would get the chance to know what it feels like to drive a super car, but I guess I do! Just need to head into my garage and take the 1LE for a drive. ;-) Thanks Chevy!

Well said. And let's not forget this comparo is a brand new design vs a 3 yr old design. Sad to see Ford lose their way tho as they do know how to build cars. Just not as well as GM does...

yet ford still sells more cars and trucks. Not on my watch as I ordered my fourth Camaro and 18TH new GM product and while there have been a few German built cars in the mix never a ford.

It just goes to show you that performance isn't the number one factor driving sales. I have a buddy that is MOPAR to the core. He doesnt care one lick about all the data or what a magazine says. The Challenger is the best two door muscle car and Ram trucks are top no matter what facts you show him. I've only ever known him to buy Chrysler products. I think there are more people out there like that. I also know I ton of people that love the premium interior in the Mustang and the overall look of the exterior. I also think that people are not getting how much different this new Camaro is over the Gen5. Many people think its just a facelift of the old car and a lot of people liked the look of the gen5.

Well GM does sell more vehicles than Ford.
It also sells more trucks than Ford albeit F150 outsells any other SINGLE name model.

Read this comparo the other day. I laughed. I then send it to my friend who works for Ford

It's proof that GM can build good cars when they want to. The problem is there isn't anything exciting they offer outside of Camaro, Corvette, and Cadillac V-series. The rest of their lineup is nice and all, but nothing really stands out, at least as a sporty offering. But don't get me wrong, I'm a GM guy through and through lol

Pissing poor comparison. The GT PP1 is more comparable to the SS based on past tests of the SS. The 1LE also had some superman brakes since the last test done it stopped at 104 feet while a ZL1 stopped at 97 feet.

Actually at Motor Trend 2016 Best Driver Car comparo an SS 1LE stopped at 94 feet. So the same superman brakes as original. It is a great comparo of a 3 yr old GM design vs a completely refreshed and more expensive Ford design. And no doubt it will be even more $ with pack 2 and perhaps still fall short. Motor Trend did a great job here and got right to the point: GM built a car that competes with a GT4. Ford is still very far behind performance wise with their GT. And that was their point which they articulated in an excellent manner.
