NOLA Motorsports Park

I just picked up a couple of Facebook posts and a little side information on NOLA Motorsports Park. I know that Scott Foremaster and Jim Slane have both left. I haven't reached out to Felix or David, as I feel that is beyond my station. I just was thinking that someone in the group may have a bit more information than what I have.

FWIW, I have reached out to a friend of mine who is Scott's next door neighbor to see if he has any more information.

No info here, but it's not a good development. With the track being sold a while back and now this, it's not positive.

They are having a karting and drifting event this weekend. I have not heard of any track events, though. I haven't been really engaged as I was pointing to my AMG Driving Academy at COTA (see TRACK heading for posts).

Things seem to be progressing fairly normally. Haven't heard a bunch of complaints. I think I recieved an email a few weeks ago that they were going to resurface some of the track which is badly needed.

That would be good news. Money being spent on the track is a good sign of better days ahead.

On a seperate note. I read a comment on the NOLA track facebook group that Xtreme experience is no longer a permanent resident of NMSP. I think they will still do occasional events there, but not a permanent home anymore.

It's the most convenient track for me but it's definitely in need of some design changes to attract more clubs from the region, especially groups from other states.

Two years or a bit more ago, the track would have as many as 200 cars at NASA / Porsche club, combined events. The Porsche folks were kinda D!ck$ at times, speeding through the paddock and not being as courteous to us lowly Chevy drivers. Still, we had a great crew with 2/3 folks from this section usually hanging out in the paddock and then going after each other a bit on the track. All in good fun and it was fun.

I wouldn't mind getting back into that, this year.

An SCCA buddy from Delta Region has just started as the track manager. I think he will do the facility right if the upper management allows it.

Met him a few times. He took some time to show me the ropes on my first (and only one so far) autox, also codrove my car that day. The little I know him he is a stand up guy. Hope to get more seat time this year with autox and at NOLA’s big track.

I went to a Chin Track Days HPDE several years ago. It was okay but I really missed the elevation changes and facilities at other Southern tracks like Barber MSP and Road Atlanta.

I'd be willing to check it out again before the humidity comes back with a vengeance down there. I'm in Jackson for a few years, so it's the closest track for a while.

It has the chance to be a good facility. There are meeting facilities and plenty of paddock space. While the track may not have the elevation changes, it is a good track, if the surface has been repaved.

I hope to add the Barber decal to my fender a bit later this year. I put COTA up in December.
