Is it reliable at 60k and up?

Good afternoon all,

I’m looking to purchase my First Camaro and my First V8 I’ve found a Camaro ss with 63k miles. I’ve heard about AFM failures, so from experience are Camaros relatively reliable around this mileage and up?

Thanks,

Auto or Manual? Chevy V8s are pretty darn good for the most part, even with AFM. If it's a manual though then definitely no worries as AFM doesn't activate.

If you search the forum you should be able to find threads on high mileage Camaros that will help you out. I do remember reading several over the last few years.

FYI: I really don’t think you will have much issues with mileage, the LT1 motors were very well built over all. The questions for me would be:
How was it driven?
Was it or is it still modified?
Was it serviced regularly?

If you are that concerned then I would keep looking for a lower mileage one even if you have to pay a little more. It might be worth it for your peace of mind. Good luck.

129k and counting.

I prefer the 16-18 front end/tail lights. This is about what I paid for both of mine around the same mileage. For an auto, first thing I would do is get a Range device and turn off the AFM. If you plan on tuning any, get an HP Tuner and disable it with that. If you buy a manual trans car you don't have to worry about it.

It’s funny you sent that link, I’ve seen that one but passed on it due to the 4 owner history

With any used vehicles, check the condition and service records if you're leery. I'd rather buy a well maintained 63K highway mileage camaro than one with 30K miles driven extremely hard and abused
