if i remember correctly, a guy did the swap a couple years ago and i think he needed every single little thing off the SS because his dealer had a hard time getting some of the stock bits to function properly as far as ecu and electrical stuff goes. and yea i was serious, i think you should do it because at the end of the day its what you want and its what will put a smile on your face, not another llt. do it once and do it right and you won't regret it

As much as every system in the car is tied into all the computers in these cars, and that between every control module there's communications between them, the issue becomes a program nightmare if one part of the system doesn't recognize the rest. 10 grand would be a stretch as another said, IF you got lucky and bought a complete but totaled SS, you would need to strip it down of most of the systems to swap the drivetrain and modules, along with probably a few wiring harnesses.

True you doe see LS swaps in hot rods and other older vehicles that would definitely require stand alone system for the engine and transmission to operate in a chassis it was never made for. It's an expensive endeavor no matter what.

Yea I mean I could stretch it to 15 then

How are they doing these swaps in brand new Suburus and Gensis'?

There must be a way to do this. Ive seen builds where guys are getting their motors for amazing prices, so its the wiring and other parts I need that I am trying to figure out

I'm sentimentality attached to my cash. It is to easy to get an identical car with the larger engine. We are talking a difference of $2500 bucks at this point 2010 vs 2010. She'll be over it in like 10 minutes as long as it looks the same.

I still remember my order code from 2008 or 09 when I got it

This was my dream car as a child and my first car
I have way too many memories of this exact car and I will not let it go

If it got written off I would still buy it back.

So yes finacially and logically I could go a cheaper route
In fact I could go buy a new SS or stingray or Scat Pack for all I care but for now id like to stick to my goals and budget and turn what was my original long term plan for this car into the plan for now

Spending 10-15k on this is still cheaper then buying a new vehicle.

All im looking for is the how to

I have really 3 options

Rebuild engine
Replace LLT
Or Swap motor

Rebuild will still cost an arm and a leg
New LLT is insane considering my motor blew at 50k miles
Even if its just the chains thats a $2500 dealer repair which would come again with another LLT

Going the LS swap is the only way to make lemonade out of a crappy situation

Ls swap

Im parting out a 2012 SS and have everything you need. Harnesses, ecu, bcm, dash. Blah blah.. Could sell you everything for a couple grand. You would just need a motor= Really its not that hard. Just takes time, patience and the will

Update:
Found LQ4 and TR6060 for a awesome price
Just figuring out the wiring BS so that I can jump on it.
I have spoken to two shops who are ready to do the built but both think the 2010 Donor SS is the way to go so now I am searching for wrecked 2010 SSs in my area but there are none to be found.

Car has been sitting for weeks on the driveway and I guess that means for sure I am not going the v6 route so at this current moment...its V8 swap or new car entirely

Do you know what I need exactly. About to pull the trigger and do a stupid rebuild on this LLT and have a sinking feeling of spending that on a flawed motor.

I really dont want to spend money on rebuilding the LLT

There was a guy who swapped an LQ9 into his v6 on here but he never stuck around to answering our questions
