Best Sounding (Deep/Rumble/Throaty) V8 NPP Aftermarket Exhaust
Contemplating replacing the stock NPP muffler on my 2020 2SS with an after market axel back exhaust...
Couple questions... 1. I live in Kalifornia, is this going to cause me any issues? I only plan to stay about 4 more years then move to somewhere much more conservative with their car laws (and everything else)... 2. As much as I hate Dodge's, I have to say most of the Chargers & Challengers I hear with the 392 sound really good, I want something deep, rumbly & throaty that definitely says "Classic American Muscle" without being completely obnoxious... 3. I think black tips would look great on my Shadow Gray Metallic SS and would like tips larger than the stock NPP... 4. It seems like Borla or AWE are the 2 big ones, which one is better? Looking for smooth, deep, throaty, rumbly but no drone but definitely strong sounding, I don't want something too raspy or obnoxious... I listened to the Borla S-Type and that is probably close to what I am looking for but am open for ideas as I want to do this only once... (the wife will probably kill me for this one time regardless so we need to make this one count! (Of course she told me I wasn't getting new wheels either and then this happened: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showt...9#post11367839 so there is defintely hope) I want something that definitely says "American Classic V-8 Muscle Car", low rumble at idle, deep, throaty notes on acceleration and a nice long rumble on decel... I'll likely install this myself so only looking for an axel back unless there is something more I should consider (not completely opposed to having it professionally installed and doing a bit more, but if I can do it myself on my Quick Jack, all the better. Also keeping it Kalifornia legal is probably wise at this point...) What say you?

Sounds like you want the Borla S type. Need to spend less? I'd say AWE touring. I have the AWE track. I don't think you want that

Everybody that has the AWE Touring including me seem to like these axel backs. No drone and is cheaper than a Borla system. You can also choose to get the polished chrome tips or the Black diamond tips as an option. I can send you a sound clip if you like. PM me your number.

The AWE exhaust sounds nice, but it deletes NPP functionality.
I would either go with a Borla NPP axleback, or even more likely with a Corsa that is closer to the original NPP sound profile but sounds meaner and more powerful (the Borla has a much more muffled sound, also nice but less throaty).

Another vote for AWE Touring. Really deep throaty sound with no drone, and its even less expensive than some competitors. The only downside is no NPP functionality but honestly you don't need it. You can cruise quietly, but when you get on the gas, its loud and aggressive.
I should be doing an updated exhaust video this weekend showing it off. I absolutely love it.

I had an AWE touring on my 1LE and it sounded really nice, zero drone, as expected. The chrome plating though on the tips got rough in ~2 years time though, started to peel and flake and started to look bad. I'm not sure how the black would hold up but I only recommend stainless tips or aluminum etc as chrome and powder coat haven't been as durable for me as I would like.

I have the Flowmaster NPP Axle back, P/N 817746. I like it. Nice deep tone, I experience no drone. That is the only mod made to my car. I might have done the Borla which I did l like, but when listening to the different modes, there was not much difference in volume from touring vs. track mode. I have listened to a few different options. Flowmaster and Corsa IMO have the biggest amount of change in volume between tour and track mode. For whatever reason, I felt like I liked the Flowmaster slightly better than the Corsa, I'm an older dude that has been around flowmaster for a minute so that probably helped to influence my choice. Nice, Classic, Muscle car sound.

Borla
The Borla S-Type would be your best option.
We really like the Flowmaster, but it might be a little too loud for California. |

Borla would be the deepest lowest hz for your needs
Flowmaster to me is the 1970 427 dumptruck sound with turndown pipes IMO. |
