What's important is that this generation put the car back on the map in a BIG way...thanks in large part to its design. What they do next won't be required to meet such a tough challenge. |

there is a limit to the retro thing. Totally new would be better. Just don't make it look like an egg. |

As I said on this site over two years ago...I'll either be one of the last to order a 5th gen or one of the first to order a 6th gen. We'll see, but as of today, even GM has not settled on the design for the 6th gen, only the platform (Alpha). Reliable sources at GMI have reported there is currently an internal design contest going on NOW at GM for the 6th gen Camaro.

I beleive itll be closer to the 5th than the 1st or 2nd. Look at how the mustang changed its look from 08 to 09or 2010 and now to 2013 I believe itll be that route.

If you want some REAL inside scoop. I'll tell you..... They are still sketching the 6th gen Camaro. Hasn't even left the drawing board. Anyone who tells you otherwise is completely full of sh*t. While I am not permitted tell you what it looks like, I will tell you to expect evolutionary steps. It would make no sense to go back and re-design every generation of the Camaro. That's living in the past. Gotta move forward! The retro-trend is done. Mustang is moving forward, and so will Camaro. There has been no statement released about it. Only thing we KNOW for certain is that it is on the ALPHA platform. Same as the Cadillac ATS. So that means it will be smaller. That is all that has been released to the public.

I just hope it looks nothing like a 2nd gen. They were soooo ugly. >.< I also don't want it to go the same direction as the mustang. That was even uglier. I want my Camaro to look like american muscle and have absolutely no characteristics of an insight.

didn't GM say they were using alpha platform for sure or possibly also being used for some cadillac? meaning a smaller car, possibly more nimble and fast. doesn't help design but maybe we atleast know it will be slightly smaller and lighter

That's the problem with retro design. Once you've gone backwards how do you move forward?

I think the best selling version was gen 2, but for whatever reason GM decided gen 1 was the way to go.

Rumor has it they're using the silhouette of the AMC Pacer for the overall “look” of the 6th gen. The interior will be modeled after the ’59 VW Bug. White walls optional.
