SS1LE- 2nd Gen Side Rocker Moldings

Seems strange that the build tool doesn’t allow the side rockers. I know the Z trim has them…or maybe it’s a different part? Also noticed the factory rock guards
are very pricey. I believe both are added by the dealer.

I know I’ve seen SS1LEs with side ground effects…They look good and would benefit the paint for sure. Hard to see a down side other than price. Are the side moldings the same parts they use on ZL1? They would need to match the front splitter, I would think.

Ordering a car is exciting, but it’s tough making all these decisions… Color is tough as well with nothing on lots to look at. I like black but prefer yellow. Wait for CE that may never happen? The metallic grey looks like a nice compromise and wouldn’t show every tiny blemish in the clear like black.

Feel for the guys witnessing 23’s arrive despite waiting on their 22 sold orders. The crazy market and the way GM is handling that mess does make it easier to procrastinate.

1LE cannot have side skirts from the factory for whatever reason. Must be aftermarket. I believe ZL1 molding is different, skirts not interchangeable. Several aftermarket options for rock guards. PPF is a good way to go

Try searching any questions in Google and adding camaro6 at the end, the forum search is terrible

The ZL1 side skirts are actually rocker panels molded that way.
The 2nd Gen Ground Effects package is a front splitter, side skirts, and rear diffuser that is dealer installed. I ordered it on my 2022 2SS.

Thanks guys. The Z rockers look very good, so I’m not sure I’d want the factory SS side rockers unless they have a very similar look. The SS1LE trim does look good enough without them. I was definitely planning to do film on the high impact areas regardless. I know from test driving a Couple Z’s; those summer tires throw a ton of loose garbage even during a cold test drive.

I’ll do more film if I end up going with a black car.

If you decide to order and install ZL1 side rocker moldings, don't forget that the ZL1 has wider front fenders, so you'll need some adjustments. Gen5DIY sells a fender push-out kit, or alternatively you can trim the ZL1 rockers to fit.

I decided to go aftermarket for now and purchased ZL1 style side skirts from C7 Carbon, these look 100% the same as the ZL1 factory part, but are obviously not integrated with the rocker panels and have a hollow bottom instead to allow for robust installation.

I went aftermarket too wuith ACS ZL1 style side skirts on my 1LE. Those also are hollow on the bottom to allow for secure installation. I also have ACS rock guards. ACS also has both available in a finish to match the 1LEs satin black trim.

Looks very good! Did these parts require any drilling on metal?

I believe most aftermarket skirts are hollow to allow for rivets into the lower body of the rocker, so yes. I wanted to get some but ultimately decided unless I were to get a taller spoiler to go with skirts I like the look of rock guards and 1le spoiler without skirts

That really completes the whole look. I don't know why they offer them as whole stand alone ground effects package but didn't include them with the 1LE package.

Thanks! No drilling into any metal parts is required to install the side skirts. It does however require drilling holes into the bottom and the sides of the rockers, which are not metal, in order to install the side skirts. Then rivets are used to hold the side skirts in place.

I agree. And it would be nice if Chevrolet included side skirts as part of the 1LE package.

As with arpad... I went w/ the C7carbon and Rokblokz. No modifying anything with install of either. Although I would recommend larger screws over the rivets provided. My husband used the rivets to make the holes but used more along the lines of license plate size screws to fasten the skirts to the rockers. Them rivets just seemed too flimsy and short for a strong hold.
