Big difference. In one case, taxpayers are cutting a check to a guy that wants to purchase an EV. In the other, the company is allowed to keep a larger portion of revenue it generated. Hopefully, some of that $$ is invested in IR&D and grows the payroll.

Why not just reduce tax on revenue in both cases? The answer is obvious. EPA wants to pick the winner. Cut a check for one customer, and levy a gas guzzler tax on the other.
BINGO

Bonus question: Cui Bono? Are the people who pass these bills more heavily invested in EVs and associated technology or the fossil fuel industry?

Not a chance! I have no interest in an EV.

I hear ford has a division for ic and one for ev. Seems smart, let each fail or succeed on their own.

This is the first electric car I actually like, maybe the exterior could look a bit cleaner, but overall this is seriously cool:

How appropriate that the driver has a cute little lisp. Exactly the image I have of EV sports car drivers.

I don't want a EV Super Car.. ..I want them to build a $30k model vehicle with 4 doors that gets 300 + miles range.

It looks cool and I am sure it drives unbelievable but the lack of sound and driving engagement eventually settle in. I experienced this on a smaller scale with my Tesla Model 3 Performance. At first you are blown away with how instant torque feels but like anything it tends to get old and then you start to miss all the characteristics that of an ICE based sports car that give it personality. The acceleration feels like an on/off switch as opposed to building torque, the rise and fall of the rpm as you work threw the gears, the exhaust note, etc.

It looks like Dodge is trying to inject some personality into EVs. It will be interesting what they come up with.

Indeed, this is the sweet spot to drive down operating costs for daily driving. They keep going overboard on the power for these EVs as a way to lure folks in and justify the higher costs but in reality they should use less power and extend the range.

...I'm not an EV fan either and will never be, but this is a lapse on your end, the driver is F1 champion Nico Rosberg, son of Keke (Keijo) Rosberg, who is also an F1 champion. I believe he appreciates all good cars and is probably a competent driver

Agree. I want them to produce a replacement for my ICE Honda Accord. The driving experience won’t be much different, but I’ll bet for at least another decade or so, it won’t be cheaper to own long term. I’ve never leased before, but that might be the best way to buy one. My last accord went 300k and still had the original clutch. Live in rust belt. Sold the car to my sister in law. She’s still driving it.

Perhaps it's a lapse on my part, but I seriously don't care about his background. If he's praising electric sports cars he's a douche in my book. No offense to you intended.

I feel the same way. Supporters of performance EV’s are facilitating the demise of ICE- especially if you are open to an EV sedan equivalent of the Camaro. Mary and the EPA don’t need any help! Resist!

But I know deep down resistance is totally futile. They have every intent to reshape the free market in the same manner as present day version of governance. Your desires don’t matter, and further, we resent the fact that you don’t realize you’ll be better off with us making those decisions for you.

The fact that EV’s are not likely to contribute to solving the ‘crisis’ (if it indeed exists) adds salt to the wound.
