In two years, mine has never been through an auto wash. Always wash by hand.

C8 I would show this to a dealer and have them fix it. There is no way GM designed the back of the car to leak this much water into the engine bay.

Anyone surprised by this has never opened their engine bay after driving in the rain. Engine bays not water tight at all.

if you have the money to buy a C8 you probably can afford to hire a couple of hot nekked women to wash it...just sayin.

Now, there will be situations where dirt and grime on the car will unavoidably require removal by some mechanical means like a cloth with soapy water, and hand washing makes perfect sense it those cases. But it seems to me that you would want to take that approach as infrequently as possible. Nigel |

Something's not right here. I agree that, although I wouldn't take it through a wash, surely it's not designed to be bathed in soap/water.

Even on road trips, I hand wash it at the hotels with spray wash and hotel towels. Lubing it up with some Zaino right before the trip helps it clean easier. And there is usually a hose around at most non-downtown type hotels if you look. I wouldn't be against a touchless wash while on the road just to get the grime off, but I haven't had to yet. -Geoff

I always use touchless car washes, they even have a dryer
They work well if car isn’t too dirty. Hand washing makes my back hurt and leaves swirls. There Does seem to be a lot of water in that engine bay. Maybe it has to do with an unnatural angle? |

Water intruding into the engine is a problem. Water intruding into the engine bay is not a problem.
I've done plenty of under hood cleanings on various cars with degreaser, brushes, and a hose. They are designed to put up with some water, as long as you're not whaling on the electrical connectors with a pressure washer or something. I just wash my cars at home with a foam cannon and a pressure washer. If they are too dirty, I use a wash mitt with a dirt trap in the bucket. I have foamed, brushed and rinsed my 6th gen under the hood with no issue too. Be smart about it, and you won't have issues. |

Its all part of the design. The engine is also watercooled for better efficiency and performance
