So if we get the copper free brakes and don’t live in Cali, what are we replacing them with? What will work? If you get oem copper free pads, how much more are they than non copper free pads and costs of rotors too?

Just called Chevy…
Copper free Front rotor $808.66 Front pad $614.66 Standard Front rotor $789.48 Front pad $576.72 I think that was obvious that a different pads and rotors made for only 2 states was gonna cost more! Just need to know if we can get real pads now to justify the cost of the bigger, heavier, more expensive rotors and initial $500 upfront cost. |

I spoke to Porterfield, they said all they need are the dimensions of a new pad in order to make a custom pad. They cut the backing plates to the proper dimensions.

I have nothing to compare it to other any my BRZ but this thing stops sooooo good with the BCD option. I only got 5 track days on the pads though and 4 days on the tires... an expensive car to track.

Why do people call brake pads “brakes”?

Because the BCD option also includes larger front rotors and calipers... and maybe out of convenience/sloppiness, too

When I get a new intake, I’m getting a new engine. When I change my clutch, I’m changing my transmission…

Does anyone know if I live in CA, but purchase a car in TX without copper free brakes, would there be any issue registering in CA? Also, are there any emissions issues bringing a new car from TX to CA?

Done it with these a couple of times. To be safe, make sure the car you are considering out of state has the YF5(CA emissions) on the build sheet and under the hood. Most dealers are 50 state, and some aren't even that. Another thing is you will need to put on at least 600 miles on it prior to smog check as that is usually the time it takes for the computer to turn on all the emissions sensors and pass check. I would think you are safe on the brakes as only folks on here even know about that
