Camaro Zl1 Totaled due to repaired wheel 😔

Please do not run repaired wheels on these cars. This could’ve been much worse

What sort of damage was done to that wheel that required welding? I wouldn't have used it for that reason alone.

Think it had a small crack due to the bad potholes here in SC

People need to realize when and where that kind of repair is acceptable....on a high performance car a new wheel is always the answer...once the integrity has been compromised it'll never be the same....sux for the Vette owner....

Yeah he definitely learned his lesson. I didn’t know it was repaired prior or I would’ve told him not to come out. Hope this helps someone

I am so glad now that I forced my insurance to buy me a new wheel instead of repairing it. That could have been all bad. glad everyone came through without serious injuries.

Still a Great Video Thanks for sharing!

Yeah man I’m glad you did that too. Once you see what a cast wheel is made of you’ll never get a cheap aftermarket

"Cheap aftermarket" is the key there. There are some very good cast wheels if they come from a reputable wheel company.

It really depends on who makes it. There's cheap cast and there's very high quality cast. Same as forged, there's cheap forged and high quality forged. I've seen forged wheels crack and bend too. As a general rule though, forged is stronger and less prone to damage.

That makes me feel a little better. This must’ve been the bad cast. It was not impressive by any means internally. Like I said we have to be a little more mindful of that here in SC because the roads are awful
