The RotoFab is an open intake versus the stock closed airbox.

Ok, so all open intakes make the bypass sound noticeable?

To take it a step further, the open intakes are only open when the hood is open. When the hood is closed it is most likely a function of how well the box seals to the hood or the path of flow thru the bottom of the box. An improperly installed box would seem to compound this issue. As well as an improperly designed seal. Could be why RotoFab redesigned the seal in 2018 per my discussion with them I mentioned above.
Or more than likely, it's just that doody happens and it's there whether you hear it or not.

Maybe I just need to make my exhaust louder now
