Driver door damage

The wind caught the driver's side door and damaged the hinge and side panel. The door is now unable to be opened beyond a couple inches without hitting the side panel. GIECO has scheduled an inspection for early morning Monday.

See photos attached. The undamaged photo is of the passenger side.

That sucks... yesterday was pretty windy and caught my truck door too. Thankfully it was pushed shut, not open.

Replacing the hinge is pretty easy, the harness unplugs from the body of the car and the hinge(s) can be unbolted / door removed.

Door check

I had the door and fender repaired. The door check used does not appear to be genuine and squeak while opening. Does anyone know how to replace it? Do I have to take the door panel off?

Just checked this in the 2018 service manual. According to the instructions, the door panel and the speaker both need to come off first to give you access to the 3 bolts. The procedure is likely the same for 2017's.

Sorry about the bad news, but I guess you kind of expected that, didn't you.

You sure you didn't hit something on the side and got that damage! I did experience heavy wind before but not to the point where the door hit the fender and caused all of this mess!

if you want my advice touch up the door and buy a new fender and have a body shop paint it or since I don't really see any paint damage on the fender it is possible to use a hammer and bring it back together but you need a really good body shop to do that and the guy needs to know how to adjust the fender back to its original position since the damage is at a body line it is more difficult to do than a minor bend.
