Painting
Since my 1le is on order, I thought why not go ahead and get the ACS sideskirts and rock guards. I'd like to have them ready to install when the car comes in. From what I've found, its basic gm black with 40% flat in the clear. Is that correct for 2021? Also, is there any reason to paint the corresponding rock guards? Thanks

Some parts on the 1LE package are a full satin like the hood, while the mirrors, spoiler and front splitter is a semi gloss finish. Adding a generic 40% of flattening agent to the clear may not give the desired sheen with any particular paint manufacturer.
Your best bet is to find a reputable body shop that understands these cars and can spray the parts correctly. Spraying any low gloss finish is very challenging as any imperfections cannot be corrected after the parts have been spayed. If the ACS rock guards are like the factory GM ones, you will want them painted. I’m pretty sure the GM pieces come pre painted the match your car. I installed the ZL1 Addons rock guards on my 1LE. They do not need to be painted. |
