Anybody on here Brick their ecm?

I think i bricked mine while Fuel Trim logging and tuning. I was using a 2 piece tablet with keyboard attachment and i think it got bumped while writing and only got partial write. I towed the car today a few mins ago to dealer to see if they can flash the ecm, but if not i have another ecm for them to install and flash.

Also bought myself a regular laptop that isnt touch screen nor two piece so not to have any more tune write issues. Guess the plus side is its Black Friday week and got a deal on the computer. Not how I wanted to spend my Bday :(

List is $486, but guy at dealer was cool and I got it for $251. Plus another $200 to install and flash.

No, I always log the data, drive home, review data and reflash while in the garage, under the theory - if it can go wrong it will.

I do the same thing. Except I hook up a battery charger to the car as well if I'm going to flash the ecm just to make sure my car battery doesn't screw me while I'm at it. I will take note of this to be extra careful since I use a surface pro with the magnetic 2 piece keyboard as well!

I have pulled into a parking lots, reviewed the log dat, revised tune, then flashed tune literally over a hundred times (including other vehicles) and never had a issues. Couple key things to remember.

1) No touch screen laptop. Too easy to accidently bump a wrong setting.

2) Never flash tune with less then 25% battery.

3) Set battery settings so the Laptop will never sleep or hibernate and disable any screen saver.

If you do these things then chances are you will never have a issue flashing a tune on battery only.

That being said OP, have you tried "writing entire" instead of a "standard write" to see if the ECU will come out of it's corrupted state?

I always use a mouse, set the computer on top of the car and use a mouse. I have ****ed up myself with the touch screen or the finger thingy on the laptop. Yes, full voltage when flashing. I'm like King, my Camaro was probably flashed over a 100 times in 4 years. I've already flashed my C7 probably 20 times. Its just part of it. Sorry to hear you bricked it.

I cannot figure out why i cannot read my trans tune yet i can write to it. Each time i try to read trans it tells me it downloaded a stock trans tune. I wanted to do a read to make sure my settings for trans are in fact uploaded.

Any ideas?

You cannot read the T87A (‘17-‘19 TCM), only write.

So, I can only assume my tune is there then. That is stupid!
