I think there's a decently high precentage of 1LE owners that track them. I've seen more 1LE's at track days than on the street around here.

Have yet to see a PP2 at a track day, though.

If I was a betting man I would say it's still probably a super low percentage. You can just look over threads here where people are looking to buy a SS or SS 1LE and flat out say they have no intention of tracking it.

I don't understand a couple of things:

1. Why not track test track package cars - I mean you have them both at the same time...their non-track packs are more suited for the street anyway.

2. Owner use doesn't determine a car's capabilities. Just because people buy things to wax them or cruise the street, doesn't mean their track capabilities weren't the manufacturer's focus, and that they probably shouldn't be buying a track car to have a cruiser.

This forum has had plenty of PP2 vs SLE discussion...here they are together at C&D and they don't lap them -

I disagree with them on the interior.

I agree, I prefer my 19 1le over my 16 mustang. I think the camaro is an overall better car. My only complaint is how small it does feel and the visibility definitely noticeable.

Coming from the Mustang world (owned a 2017 Mustang) I can definitely tell you that the interior of the Camaro is significantly better. And this comes not just from me, but from everyone who has been in my Mustang and my Camaro. The dash of the Mustang is composed of panels that feel cheap. And they rattle, damn there is a lot of rattling! There is a saying in the Mustang community that goes “if it doesn’t rattle it ain’t a Mustang”. The interior of the Camaro on the other hand is of better quality and it gives the feeling of a higher quality car.

So yes, I definitely disagree with them on the interior.

GT350/R
Track=2-3 per track event
Autox=3 within the past year
Street=5 within the past 6 months (not including M-plates)

PP2
Track=ZERO
Autox=ZERO
Street=3 within the last 6 months

SS 1LE
Track=at least 1 other than me per track event
Autox=8-10 within past year
Street=4 within the past 6 months

Honestly, a lot of owners of the SS 1LE seem to, at least, casually take their car to a driving event. More-so than most other cars.

Talking

I think that the 6th gen Camaro SS1LE would compare better in performance to the Shelby GT350. But both on the same performance tires category.

They don't have to pit these cars against each other on the track just because they're track oriented cars. Most buyers will use these cars as daily drivers or weekend cruisers.

Besides, it's already well established that the Mustang is the inferior track car due to it's lack of cooling.

What?

That's exactly what they should do with track pack cars.

Compare the SS and the GT for DD or cruising...that's what they are for.

Everyone has been asking for a same day track comparison of the PP2 and 1LE.

You have comparisons though not the same day, Lightning Lap. If you want a H2H it will need to be MotorTrend as I doubt C&D will do it.

Hey all,

Not to divert, but one of the most intriguing things i saw in this issue was the stats on the GT PP2 and SS 1LE, compared to those of the '19 Shelby GT350. the '19 GT350 is a little further back in the same issue. The 0-60, the stopping, the g's... it's not really different than the pp2 or SS. Are the numbers they printed correct??? Trying to not be biased, i was wondering, if those numbers are correct, what are you really getting, performance wise, for the extra ~$13k?

To be fair, the base GT350 isn't on the aggressive compound tires the PP2 and 1LE are. So the stats reflect that. Put them all on the same tire and it would level the playing field.

I'm definitely not a GT350 fanboy - I do think it's overpriced consider the Voodoo engine issues. It is amazing to rev that 5.2 past 8000rpm though and the sounds are glorious!
