just did mine..
I only started it and switched modes and revved, seems cleaner like some said before... once I get some time in the seat like this I will let you know if its fixed, anyway I am curious why it is only right side... it has to be a defect in the muffler manufacturing that's only on right side...

I may have to do this, never had a rattle before. But after my long tube headers, I am pretty sure I hear a rattle now.

Bumping this thread. I had headers installed on my SS 1LE last week. I already had the rattle problem on the passenger side, but after the headers went in, it got tons worse. I did this fix to the right and left sides (for good measure) and the rattle is gone! This fix does work to stop the NPP rattle. I just have the raspy sound of the NPP suitcase (with the valves closed) coming through now.

I just did mine tonight. It’ll be the weekend before I can go out and test it. My steel piece ended up positioned just the opposite or the pics in post 1. Hope that will be ok. I tried the open and close function and it seemed to work fine.

It's been 10 days since I did mine. Confirming it again. It works.

Does the dealer do this fix? Is it from their service manual?

There is a TSB for it, so I imagine a dealer would do this fix, but they may attempt the "epoxy" fix a time or two first. Here is the TSB for the fix talked about in this thread.
https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/20...61937-9999.pdf It is incredibly easy to do if you want to do it yourself. If you have larger hands, an 8mm ratcheting wrench is your friend.

this is one of those times that I would rather just get under the car and work on it myself as opposed to scheduling an appointment and taking the car in and leaving it with them. On my 2017 SS, I had the whole exhaust changed after three trips to the dealership of them telling me it didn't rattle. Well it was nice to get rid of the rattle, they scratch the rear bumper cover in the process and had to repaint part of the side and it was never the same looking ever since then.
