painters tape them shut, or snap them off.

I'm going to update my original post to reflect the current status of this issue.

Thanks again, to scargoes for the theory, and mark 114 for the pic. You guys are awesome! This will definitely lead to a fix.

Now, the fix...will take a little bit of creativity. If anybody has ideas...post 'em up!

We must somehow immobilize those flaps so they can't flutter in the turbulent air. Or modify them somehow so they don't catch the turbulent air and flap back and forth.
So, it would seem the problem is that they are so light that they flap around. What about making them weigh more without modifying or damaging anything. If you can reach down in there, you could clip a small binder clip onto each flap and see what that does. I know those things hold on well, and nobody can see them there.

A small one of these:

I believe this sound is coming from the rear cabin vents. Does anybody know where these are located and how I would access them?
Mine sounds EXACTLY like this. Looking forward to your next diagnosis.

I always have the fans on no matter what. Why would you turn them off? fresh air in the cabin is a good thing.

18 SS 1LE with very similar sound coming from the rear trunk area. Some time ago I removed the rubber flaps on those vents assuming that was the source. Unfortunately for me the sound is still there. Hope your fix works for you.

Well thats the question, why not just leave the air on low all the time. If I want to cruise on the highway at 60mph with my windows slightly down, I can hear it and its super annoying.
I really enjoy cruising on the highway with my windows cracked and fresh air blowing in. I want to be able to do that without the annoying flapping sound. Sure I could just roll up my windows and turn the air on, but thats no fun on a nice sunny day.

That's a helluva good piece of investigative work there, Protovack!

Well done!

No, my noise remains even with the HVAC so with any luck your remedy should work.

My car has the same issue. The only difference I noticed is that the sound goes away with the HVAC off and or blowing fresh air. I only hear the fluttering sound when the AC setting is on. Fan speed does not seem to have a large impact on the problem for me.

Experiencing the exact same noise. I couldn't for the life of me figure out what/where it was coming from! Based on the type of noise, this has to be it!

Have you been able to try any fixes yet?

I'm on hold due to a new baby coming, so no fix yet.
My workaround at least in summer, is to have my window down far enough that the wind noise drowns out the rattle

If your windows are up, then you just leave the HVAC fan on a low setting.

The fix is needed for those times when you want to crack your window and leave the HVAC system off.

Not a good one yet.
Just removing (ie cutting off) the flaps does fix it, but then you have an opening that moisture and dirty air can get in. It's not a huge deal because there isn't anything mechanical back there, but still, not a great fix.
