SS Tune

I apologize if this question has been asked, did a search and did not find much. I installed a CAI on the car and the manufacturer said no tune required. I went to the local speed shop and asked for a price on a axle back exhaust, told me I needed a tune because of the CAI, said without it I could damage the motor, I don't want to damage the motor , the cost of the tune is not cheap. Now my Silverado, same motor has a CAI and exhaust no tune, no issues. Need some input don't know what is true or not, I am not going to track the car, may beat on it every now an then, but that is about it, what is your opinion, need tune or not,

What CAI? I don't think you'll do much damage to the motor but it is most likely causing variation to the readings the intake instrumentation would be expecting during certain situations. You may not be getting the best use of the CAI without a tune but I wouldn't worry about a tune until you do headers or start touching the motor itself.

Depends on the brand of CAI. Some require a tune because the diameter of the tube is larger which skews the maf reading. Either way it's not going to damage the engine, but if you don't want to tune then stick with the Rotofab.

This. They are really just trying to sell you a tune.

No tune required. The speed shop was incorrect.

No tune necessary for nearly any CAI. Find another shop.
