Dealer recs for service in Detroit

Hi All,

Getting closer to pulling my new-to-me SS out of the storage unit and am looking for recommendations for a Chevy dealer to become my go-to service provider.

I’m in the north suburbs of Detroit and would like to stay between Telegraph and Van Dyke and north to Rochester maybe. Looking for a dealer that sells/services a lot of Camaros and Vettes and maybe has some “specialist” guys in the shop who really know the LT1 and goodies on our cars (NPP, MRC, etc).

Also want to get the TSB for the A8 done just as a matter of preventative action, so a dealer that isn’t going to argue with me about doing it or grilling me about whether it has the symptoms.

Let’s hear your stories, good, bad, specific “stay away” warnings etc!

Thanks!

As far as getting the latest TBS fluid and flush procedure done, I had great service at Feldman in Highland. They even replaced my torque converter without me having to ask

Hi,
I'm in the North Western suburbs.
Took my ZL1 to Genisis on the far East side. They seemed to have a performance oriented service department.
They have a dedicated mechanic for performance cars. I had them do my first (complimenary) oil change and also had the rear diff fluid flushed and replaced. Seemed like they felt the car is special.
I felt they did a good job.
I'm sure there are other good dealerships that would be fine as well.
I'm just posting my personal experience.
I'll be doing my own oil changes from now on because I enjoy working on my cars.
Good luck,

I’m going to give you two recommendations.

James-Martin Chevrolet
6250 Woodward Ave
Detroit

If you go there make certain you meet Becky and Joe. Becky and James-Martin Chevrolet are major sponsors for our Camaro Club (Motor City Camaro Club). Since you’re in the area you should really consider joining us. I just minutes ago renewed my membership. A whopping $25. https://mccc.clubexpress.com/content...&club_id=88701

I would also recommend
George Matick Chevrolet
14001 Telegraph (@ I-96)
Redford

That’s where I bought my car. I didn’t know Becky back then or I would have most likely just bought from her. Matick’s service department is really pretty good. I had one annoyance with them over the auto up feature on my passenger window. I had taken the car to them for 3 issues and they told me the car was finished. They finished the other two issues but had not finished the window because they were waiting for a part. They gave me the car back as if they had finished. I was annoyed, but they took care of it when the part came in.

***EDIT*** Just re-read your post. I had Matick do the trans flush just for my peace of mind. Not an issue. That was one of the 3 issues it was there for when we had the window debacle. They also have one of the biggest inventories of Camaros and Corvettes in the area, mostly inside under a roof. Good way to pass the time while vehicle is in service, so that’s one more vote for Matick.

As far as Performance Car specialists, I doubt you’ll find anybody at any local dealership that knows more about performance Chevrolets than Becky Doyle at James-Martin Chevrolet. She has one of the biggest personal collections of Camaros and Corvettes you’ll find under one roof. So that’s one more vote for James-Martin Chevrolet.

Hello TP2SS,

I'm an owner of Genesis Chevrolet (that was mentioned above) in Eastpointe, MI. We are sponsors here on the Camaro forums, Corvette forums, host a variety of performance car meets and events such as the Gratiot Cruise, and are partnered with a couple of large and small Corvette clubs. As a massive car enthusiast myself, I've been sure to outfit our dealership, from sales to service, with highly trained techs and employees as well as the right tools to get the job done. This includes in-ground lifts, proper lifting pucks, etc. We're partnered with Katech Performance for modifications and packages, we carry Adam's Polishes detailing products, and have apparel, parts, GM performance accessories etc. on hand or 1-2 days away. We have a page of our website dedicated to Corvette and Camaro owners that gives some some detail on this: https://www.genesischevrolet.com/Corvette-Camaro

If there's anything you need from sales, to parts, to service, feel free to shoot me a PM anytime. I have a specific writer I'll set you up with and we will take great care of your ride. Unfortunately, at this time, like all of our competitors, our service department is closed or operating very minimally and we're unable to assume new work due to regulation and constraints.

Take care!

Thanks 'HP!

Exactly what I'm looking for, a dealer that "specializes" in these cars! You're actually convenient for me as I spend a lot of time in the summer on the east side at my boat. Once things open up I'll get over there for an oil change and a checkup for all updates. I'd also like to do the 18-NA-355 TSB as a preventative measure. See you soon!
