From my personal experience in stock form my F bodies are the best at carving the curves then my Challenger then my Mustangs. With the mods I've done with my 2013 Mustang GT it now handles like it should of from the factory.
I was referring to the '15 or newer GT PP, which everyone agrees is much better handling than it's predecessors. Since the Scat Packs have the same suspension/brake setup as your SRT8, how much better is it than the S197 cars in handling to you?

The Challenger Scat Pack & SRT8 can make the average Joe feel like he knows how to drive the S197 Mustang requires a skilled driver to handle well which makes it the most fun to drive when you want to play. My SRT8 has wider tires than the Scat Pac but I did push that Scat Pac pretty hard in the curves and it just digs in, if only it was 400lbs lighter.

The S550 GT PP is a much improved car over the previous Mustang GT but still too soft in the curves. I looked at buying a 2016 GT350 with Tech package but couldn't agree on price thankfully because now that people are taking them to the track these cars are going into limp mode after 15 minutes due the engine overheating the trans. Ford's already fixed the 2017 GT350s.

Monte, what suspension mods or kits would you recommend for a S197?

I apologize if my information isn't wanted or appreciated...but as for S197 suspension, if you're willing to spend the money, I've both seen and heard this is about the best on the market:

http://cortexracing.com/product/xtre...-s197-mustang/

This, combined with the torque arm, is the suspension from the SCCA SpecMustang cars (in track form, the street is softer). It converts the factory rear end to a watts link set and can be upgraded dramatically. The total cost is around $6,000. Cortex says that at least as of right now a S197 Coyote car with this suspension system handles better, grips harder and in general is "better" than their S550 car.

Here's a video of the test results and examples..

Again, sorry for the interruption. A friend of mine runs SpecMustang down in California and swears by this set up both on the track and on the street.

Way too expensive for mostly a street Mustang. Thanks for the post though!

If I were to buy a used S197 Mustang GT on the cheap then I could see myself throwing down that kind of money on it.

To do what? Road racing, drag racing or a balance of both?

I've done suspensions on my two S197's. The one I preferred, that worked well on both fronts was from BMR and wasn't all that bad cost wise. On my last one I did Koni yellows, Ford Racing strut mounts, BMR springs, BMR LCA's, BMR LCA relocation brackets, BMR adjustable pan hard rod, BMR A arm support brace, BMR UCA and BMR UCA mount...helped amazingly.

I was surprised on the Camaro interior comment, but I do like the refreshed Challenger interior. I thought the new Camaro shifter felt pretty good, didn't realize the Mustang shifter was better. Also interesting was the fit and finish comments on the Mustang. My friend has a 15 GT and I don't remember seeing anything that bad, but I course I didn't take out a tape measure to check the gaps.

Ditto!

I drove a Challenger Scatpack with the auto box at an auto show and holy crap that thing sounded awesome, and the shifts were snappy from the auto box, though I would definitely get one with 3 pedals. Everything about the car was awesome until I had to make my first left turn - the car is incredibly heavy and you can feel it. It's not a bad thing though as cruising at freeway speeds the car feels very stable and planted

I can't wait to drive a 2SS but I have a feeling a 3 pedals 2SS will completely destroy the Dodge duos in terms of driving dynamics, especially in the handling department
