NHRA Factory Stock cars have evolved into 7-second production-based machines that compete in an ultra-attractive heads-up format. The field is comprised of 2008-present Ford Cobra Jet Mustangs, Chevrolet COPO Camaros, and Dodge Drag Pak Challengers.

That's moving out for a 1.7L. I assume at this point they've done all they can do with that stock blower, I'd like to see what that car will do with a Magnuson 2650 now.

Would that be the 17k stage 4 kit? Not counting all the suspension parts, tranny upgrades, and drag pack setup stuff... lol or cooling mods.. probaby 30k of mods and labor for that record.

Expensive bragging rights.. right there! great job though!

And those are track only, stripped down cars. You can't drive them iv the street, legally.

I think the COPOs are LS motors, which I used to race

Well if you are concerned about staying on a budget, then any quest for a world record probably should not be on your goal list (LOL). As far as bragging rights go, it aint really bragging if you can do it and do it repeatedly time and time again.

This is a good starting point:

https://dragchamp.com/2020/nhra/nhra...le-amendments/

You may notice the factory stock camaros are running a much larger supercharger (Magneson vs. the little 1.7 ZL1 blower)

I'm with gtfoxy. An interesting subject. I just checked out some of the rules that sr71bb linked us to. I found the following very interesting:

2017-2018 Camaro COPO 350
590 HP Supercharged 2.9L Whipple

2019 Camaro COPO 350
630 HP Supercharged 2.65L Magnuson
Upper supercharger pulley size: (3.580) inches

2020 Camaro COPO 350
630 HP Supercharged 2.65L Magnuson
Upper supercharger pulley size (3.580)

Obviously, "factory stock" couldn't be more of a misnomer. I guess these COPO cars are nothing like our ZL1's.

It's crazy that these cars can run such low times with modest horsepower numbers.

Shows you what traction, gearing and staying at redline for 8 seconds can do, plus my guess is these cars are lighter. Probably 60 ft. under .990.
