I wanted to bump this old thread now that i have my s/c in. It's WET WET WET in california. SOAKING.

however, i can confirm launch control works the exact same with the edelbrock s/c (stock eb tune) as it did with a stock car. comp mode, mash brake, mash gas, launch. Even in the wet ground the car limited the wheel spin and sent me on my way. 0-60 was probably 25 seconds though as it was so wet outside

I'll do some more testing whenever it stops raining (maybe never)

Edit: appears that launch control doesn't work after all. More testing to follow.

Edit 2: Appears it does work. Ha.

With the torque these cars are making you will blow the tires plum off and most tuners turn off LC. I mash the brake and load it up to 2000 rpm, launch when ready. It worked very well at the drag strip the other day with MT's.

if you have a manual, just drop the clutch a little slower and you'd probably be fine

Has anyone with a supercharged A8 had success launching in 2nd? I only got 800 miles on mine before putting it away for winter and I still only had the stock wheels and tires, but I couldn't hook up at all in 1st. When i tried launch control it would start to spin the tires then stop and bog and then repeat until i let off the brake. (Was I not holding the brake hard enough?) I never got around to trying the 2nd gear launch and the roads were cold in PA in November. I'm sure I will figure it out this spring, but just wondering if anyone has tried this?

Yes, I have done a few in second and once I hit 6300 rpm I move the shifter to A. I am gonna try this method at the strip next week. Launch control will not work with FI, too much TQ.

Was the 2nd gear launch faster in your attempts? Hooking up instead of spinning?

Today's testing revealed that launch control doesn't work. Or at least I couldn't get it activated today.

I have no idea how to launch this car now. No traction at all until 80.

So what about traction control? If you mash on it at 20 mph with all the nannies on?

Spin. Sideways movement. Then correction.

Still works like normal with our system.

Frankly thats how I drive 99% of the time.
If you have it all off, you can get out of hand pretty quick.

Yes it's like a training aid for driver traction control. If the nanny kicks in you effed up.

I did more testing today, and today launch control was working and it was great.

I tried launching in track, sport, and tour from second gear (full traction control on), and was always between 4.2 and 4.6. I tried short shifting into 3rd (as the car struggled for traction) and no matter what i did, i was between 4.2 and 4.6.

Then I gave launch control another shot. In sport, competition mode. Mash brake, mash gas.

Here's the result. Pretty stoked. I also tried competition mode, and just a little brake, about 1k rpms and almost ended up facing the wrong way on the road, so I can confirm that launch control is active and keeps you pointing straight when it is engaged (see the 1.2 second 0-60 run, needed to change my shorts there).
