Tire price?

Hi, im thinking of replacing oem zle tires with PS4S set. Currently oems have a little over 2k miles with no damage or track days. How much could the oems be sold for realistically?

Is the tire rack the best place to purchase new set from? I see they offer free road hazard, is the coverage good?

Not certain on a price for the OEM tires.

Tire rack has always been the place I go for tires. The road hazard I have used once and it was 1 month before the 2 year mark. It was easy and quick. Gave me my money back for what I originally purchased the tire for in about a weeks time. They mailed a check.

Back in April I bought some new tires for my ZL1 and searched on Tire Rack, Discount Tire and a couple of local tire shops and the local Chevy dealership actually gave me a price match to Tire Rack. I was looking for either Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires or Michelins which I found out I couldn’t get a complete set, front and rear, in all the places I looked so I decided on the OEM GY F1s that the dealership could get all 4 tires at a good price. Do some internet searches and call a few local tire stores to see what kind of deal you can get now and even try your local Chevy dealer too as they advertise price matching on tires.

If you can hold out until Spring/Summer, Tirerack always seems to put the SC3 and 3Rs on closeout, 2 or 3 times during the warmer months. Great deals!

In fact the 305/30/20 GYSC3s are still on closeout for $231.92

I just purchased a set from tire rack this week. $1537 to my door including tax. I also had to purchase a set of tires for my F250 this week. 35s ain’t cheap ($2200). That being said, $1500 seemed like a deal in comparison.

I bought a set of PS4’s off eBay for $1500 a few months ago. Sold the take offs for about $600. Actually forget the exact amount they sold for but they sold in just a day or two so I should of asked more.

Last year I purchased Michelin PS 4S' for my Z/28. Complete set came in under $1800 mounted, balanced and with road hazard warranty from Discount Tire. Very happy!

This is what I do to stretch my dollar..

1. find the lowest price advertised on the net (usually free shipping and no tax although no tax is becoming harder to find).

2. take the screen shot or print out to discount or they can look it up (I've always managed get them to match the price even when they add the tax which means they lower the price more so when tax is added your lower than the online price)

3. Take advantage of there credit card for a few reasons usually free interest for 6 mos. plus and you get 10% back of the total price on a gift card and another 5% for buying 4 tires these promotions are always changing and president day time frame or july 4th seem to have the best mail in offers for prepaid master cards. this rebate is strictly tied to the D.T.C.C. there are also promotions from goodyear toyo or other manufactures that may apply so don't forget about manufacture rebates although there hard to find on performance tires but you can use this reasoning for your other cars aswell.

Its a pain to shop like this but when you spend a lot money on car parts like me and others you can make the money go a lot further. I never buy unless there some type discount under list price.

P.S. i never buy from tire rack when it comes time to send something back your burned on shipping sometimes especially on discontinued and sale stuff.

I agree with this. When I bought my 325/30/30 R888Rs, discount tire had them for $495. Found a place online for $425 and they price matched it even after taxes.

I buy all my tires from tire rack, great service so far. I've used the road hazard for a flat fix and I just snapped a photo of the paid receipt and I got reimbursed by check in a couple of weeks. I've not had to use it to the point of trying to replace a tire (yet).
Sometimes I just don't quibble about the dollars it's quick and easy for me with tire rack and I just go with it. When I've casually price compared I haven't found a good enough reason to shop elsewhere.

Another place to look for tires is Amazon, I got a set of the Firehawk Indy 500's for just a hair over 1K with free shipping and had them within 3 days, I still have my 3R's in the shop with 300 miles on them just in case I want to track the car one of these days.

If you live in an area where it doesn't rain very much, the GY's are the way to go without a doubt. Plus, the PS4's are on national backorder.
