I had the 2nd production A10 and learned by school of hard knocks just like you guys are doing. Then after the fact mentioned it to GM Engineers who laughed and confirmed.

Sort of like No Lift Shift.. if you ever so slightly lift off the gas or twitch like you are it won't work. Throttle has to be 100%.

Sounds to me like they finally made it work like it should.

My bet is the 2019 ZL1 is the same. Kind of like making the seats tilt back further in the 19

Performance shift mode. If you slap the go pedal quickly, it puts the car in this mode. It will hold revs longer, and automatically downshift to slow down.

As long as you're in sport or track mode.

It'll stay on this mode if you are pulling g's or continuing to drive spiritedly.

Same on the 2020 ZL1. Let me ask you something: Assume that you are in auto mode in D, then you 1st tap either paddle to get into manual mode and finally you hold the left paddle for 3 sec to automatically drop to the lowest possible gear. After it downshifts, do you have to paddle shift for all the upshifts, even if you are in D, or it will upshift automatically?
