Longtube header install difficulty?

In the future I might consider headers for my 1LE. Is it possible to install longtubes at home using ramps or jack stands? I would run headers with catted mid pipes to stock NPP.

Doesn't really pertain to the new camaro alpha chassis but I installed long tube headers on my 5th gen camaro with putting 4 jacks stands under the car and had plenty of room that install them. Hope this helps.

I suppose if you wanted to you could. However, these are much harder to do than on the 5th Gen. There is front subframe brace that unbolts and swings down to allow clearance, so you have to be high enough for that. Also, you have to cut your stock exhaust to the length of the new mid pipes. Not the easiest thing to do on jack stands, but I imagine anything is possible with enough ambition.

For what it's worth, I really don't want to do long tubes on a 6th gen but, if I did, I think I'd get the two piece Hooker setup. Sure, you may introduce some leaks but, I think with proper installation, it should suffice for its intended purpose. I can imagine that could be installed in your garage with jackstands.

It can be done. I wouldn't do it, but it's worth it in the end. Sounds so good.

I started a write up in the install. Will finish it this week. The "subframe" aka skid plate, takes all of a few minutes to unbolt that and the three plastic shields.

Front needs to be 21.5" off the ground from K member to floor. Rear tires were 3" off the floor. Easy job. Easier than a LS1 Camaro and way way way easier than a L89 camaro.

I installed SW headers, hi-flow cats, 3" diameter pipes back to SW mufflers with 5" diameter outlets in my garage with the tires 19" off the ground and I am going to be 71 years old. Was one of the easiest header installs that I have installed in 55 years and I do all my own work on my cars. Just my $.02

Geez, I stopped doing my own fluid changes over 10 years ago and I'm 67. You make me look like a big time slacker.

I did the same setup as Gary, using jack stands. It was my first LT header install and I thought it was a PITA.
