My 100% guess on this is something wrong with the transmission output speed sensor or its circuit (wiring, ECM input, etc.).

There is a speed sensor on the output shaft of the transmission (OSS). Likely Chevrolet compares the output shaft speed to the engine speed in a control module. Normally they should be locked at whatever gear ratio you are in, but if the clutch is slipping, there will be a mismatch in that comparison. That would trigger this error in normal situations (actual slipping clutch being normal). Could also be that that particular sensor is used an an input to the speedometer as well.

See here for sensor location. Looks like passenger side near the rear. Gonna be tricky to get to/see with the cross member in the way, though.

See here for replacement procedure:

I didn't find the part number for it, but I didn't look very hard either. Maybe just a loose sensor or connection, though. Maybe I'm 100% wrong too.

edit: here's a case where it happened in an auto: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=511494

Hi Guys,

It's taken me a couple of days to get registered for the site, and it sounds like you've got to the point I was at a couple of days ago.

I work at a GM dealership in the United Kingdom. We have a Corvette Grand Sport with this exact issue. The GM technical team in Europe haven't responded to our request for assistance yet, but our diagnostics is telling us that it's most likely the manual transmission output speed sensor. It's common between all the Corvettes and Camaros with a manual transmission.

Our problem is that this car faults so irregularly, that even when we replace the sensor, it might take days or weeks until we know if it's fixed. We have one on order, but it would be nice if somebody else with the fault could also feed back if the issue is resolved after replacing this sensor.

I ordered the part from gmpartsgiant and will provide updates upon replacement.

The car is about to hit 85,000 miles.

Hi. Your car, by chance doesn't have an aftermarket throttle controller on it does it? I had a similar problem. Reduced power(limp mode). Saying , there could be an unclipped harness plug down by your accelerator pedal, not registering correctly on your throttle control sensor. Or it could be a bad throttle control sensor. I removed the throttle controller completely. Reset the system and no more problems. I would look there and your connection on the throttle body for starters. Good luck.

The part seems to be on back order and I have not had the opportunity to swap it out

this could be due to a bad ground, maybe burned wires?

I was looking at the wrong area of the tremac 3060. Attached is a photo and as described by my local Chevrolet parts dealer, the output speed sensor (the unplugged wire) is next to the reverse sensor. I removed the bolt with an Allen key and pulled the sensor out slowly. I did hear an air seal release. Afterwards, I put the new one in and started the motor. No codes appeared.

Time for a test drive but first a much needed interior and exterior cleaning. 89102 miles on the odometer and I just replaced my second exhaust solenoid on bank 2 as well.

I will update soon

I'd check the connection and the wiring all of the way back. Could also be ECM related (on the input where it receives the input). Some guys had a similar intermittent issue with flex fuel kits by not seating the pin in the ECM connector all of the way.
