Just a guess. 7K is a huge price reduction (10% almost) so it leads to the question of where is it coming from. Edit: Maybe they dropped the mandatory leather seats and went back to the suede/leather trim seats? That was like a $2500 option by itself. Last edited by Firehead640; 09-14-2018 at 08:46 AM. |

It’s averages out to about the same price as before (when both cars are equally optioned). Like you said, if all you want, or care about is the motor than you are in luck. But if you want the same level of interior as what was standard in the early years, then you are going to pay. A decently optioned Hellcat red eye is close to 80K. Fully optioned is closer to 85K...... too much money if you ask me.

I priced a red eye and it was 86k with decent options. Really cool car, but not worth 20k over zl1.

Does the base Red Eye have the same content of a base ZL1?

The ZL1 comes nearly loaded for a base and Dodge just cut out all the content of the HC so you can get cloth, base stereo, etc to bring the entry level price down. The HP statement is funny, one might as well say you get x-seconds faster per lap with the ZL1 depending on the road course. Edit: My point is that the price for each should compare similar content, not base MSRP. If you are going to compare list prices, then the options/content (leather/power seats, stereo/NAV, etc) should be as close as reasonable.

In the 1/4 mile, the red eye will only win on a prepped track with an aftermarket DR or slick. In all street scenarios, on stock setups, the ZL1 will launch much better than the HC.
