The ZL1 on drag tires - Where are the 1.5 60's At?

I still am new at launching my ZL1 A10. So mid 1.8 is my best 60' in 4 tries.

I heard from Big Dave and he has seen a few 1.6es on stock tires. But when I look at the fast list other than the 9 second car, the modded cars can do no better than 1.684. This being the case why bother with drag radials?

Bolton SS A8s get into the 1.4s, Pray! (with converter)

I know there is a built in bog in the M6, so what is up with the A10?

Could it be people are getting good 60's and just not posting the times?

Just wondering.......

the tuning is preventing any 1.5 or low 1.6 60’ times. GM knows the LT4 could kill the rear, axles, etc. if it allowed full torque in 1st or 2nd gear.

I'm yet to try drag radials, but from what I've seen, it appears torque management is preventing the car from launching any harder than it will with the stock tire. I've seen videos where guys are leaving the line wide open, with and without launch control, and don't seem to spin an ounce. So the reason to go ahead with the DR is to get the low 60s much easier and more often, and therefore low 11s and high 10s on a regular basis, even when track prep isn't the best. If I'm right about TM, it will only take tuning it out to see the really low 60s with a tire. For those of us wanting to keep our warranty, this is why GM needs to hurry up and release their ZL1 drag package.

Having a really tall rear gear (2.85) will hurt our 60' as well. Has anyone ever launched with all the nannies turned off on a DR?

I think that is how Nick launched his car to get the 1.68 or whatever it was that put him on top of the modded list. As for the rear gear, it really isn't much of a factor due to the super low 1st gear in the A10. Even with the high rear ratio, once you multiply it by 1st gears ratio, you have one of the lowest final ratios offered in a factory sports car. 2nd gear is equal to a lot of cars 1st.

I wish this was the case with my car. I cannot seem to leave the line without spinning the tires.

So you have drag radials on yours and it won't do it?

I don't even care about the package itself, I just want the re-tune that they will be doing... It doesn't modify the axles or the rear differential....but they do add some subframe solid bushings..and yet they manage to get 10.01 essentially

(yes I know there are headers and other stuff involved)

I've not seen any ratings on the differential, but the driveshaft is rated to handle 4,000 lb/ft and the half shafts 5,000 lb/ft. Shouldn't be any need to upgrade those. I'd like to find the diff and trans ratings, just to know.

I'm like you, and mostly want the tunes for the engine, trans, diff, and shocks. I do want the CAI, throttle body, and pulley to go with the tune, and maybe the headers. I'll take the cradle mounts only if they're needed. I don't want the cage, race seat, or small rear brakes, and want to choose my own wheels and tires.

I found it funny how they were claiming 1.415 60 foot and 137.78 mph, and the best 1/4 time happened to be 10.000. I think the car will go 9s but they didn't want to claim that, because a cage and other safety items would be required.

I've managed a couple 1.67 60' times on the factory tires. I didn't sense any computer intervention, but that doesn't mean it wasn't there. I believe there is a method to the madness, it just takes a bit of seat time.

Maybe our good air is the secret. And as you said seat time. Yours would be the fastest stock 60' noted. But then if DRs knocked another tenth or two off that would make sense. But no dice.

As for me once I am done with stock I will go with the Toyos. I would have liked to try the NT555Rs on 1LE replica wheels, but once I decided they were too tall I let those wheels and tires go with my SS.

My goal is to at least get a mid-low 1.7 for now. Gotta keep up with those Hellcats.

Exactly. Just program my computer for these..

110-octane calibration
Magnetic ride control calibration
Transmission calibration
eLSD calibration

And you can keep the rest, I'd even pay $500 for that alone..
