1LE - Check Your Shocks

Found a Magnaride shock with a leak at 7k miles and one track day. This was the left rear. No noticeable ride deterioration or error codes. It's good to find this prior to warranty running out.

Dang! What's the production date of your car?

Let us know what your dealer will do about the leaky shock. Thanks for the heads up!

Or anyone with mag-ride. SS MRC, ZL1, SS 1LE. They all use the same shocks. Might want to post this in a less specific forum to help your Camaro family out. Thanks.

Let's not get anyone riled up here most cars on the road use fluid filled shocks ,can happen to any car.

But yes definitely better to find this before Warrenty runs out hah

This would fall under basic maintenance checks we all should do driving hi performance cars.
Brakes,tire pressure, etc.

The dealer replaced the shock. We had to wait several days for them to get it instock. It's a $400 part.

It is fairly normal for Magnetic shocks to 'seep' a little oil. Your pic looked to be on the bubble so it's nice they replaced it! There was a TSB for the C6/C7 shocks stating that (I'll look for it)

I've had a few vettes with these shocks, and a couple had a drop or two (but nothing crazy).

I was checking my shocks prior to my next track day this weekend and saw a slight film of oil on the shock tube. When I brought the car in to get reprogrammed for the GM CAI they took a look at them and ordered new ones for me.

We have 19,000 miles on our 2017 SS 2SS with magnetic ride. Discount Tire had to replace a wheel they damaged when we got new tires. As soon as they replaced the front driver’s side wheel, we noticed the car pulls to the left like we were driving with a stiff crosswind. We took it to the dealer & they found a rear shock was leaking & the cost was over $1000!!! I sure am glad we bought the GM extended warranty!

I assume this isn't covered under the 60k/5yrs warranty?
