Want to hear more V8 noises from your SS 1LE? Do this.
For all who haven't seen it, there is sound tube leading from the engine intake to the firewall designed to pass V8 noises to the passenger compartment. You can increase the volume of this mechanical symphony by removing the foam damper inside the tube:
Location of sound tube: Remove the foam from the tube: Try it out and post your impressions. If you don't like the way it sounds you can always return it to stock condition.

I didn't realize this car had any of that silliness.

I think I will be giving this a try as well. More V8 sound the better! I already drive with the back seat down. My wife saw it the other day and was like "why is your back seat down?" Obviously concerned as to why I had it like that. I said "more efficent to hear exhaust gurgling of course!" I got a nice hard eye roll

Not quite as bad as artificially pumping it through the radio, but yeah it's silliness all the same...

At first I agreed, but then I think maybe it isn't actually all that silly. What if you want to hear your engine make happy sounds, but you want less of other less welcome sounds, like road noise, DI injector noise, etc. Putting in a sound tube allows GM to engineer the car to be quieter overall but without muffling the part that makes you smile.

The sound tube is a gimmick, pulled mine and enjoy the sounds of the NPP locked open with no secondary cats. Plenty loud now....

Nice find! I am going to try this tonight as well. I don't mind the sounds coming through and actually prefer it more then it not being there.
