What do you think about this trailer?

https://www.spencertrailers.com/2018...nSJf%7CjV.html

It is on the cheap side. I love this sport but dont know if I am ready for an enclosed or expensive aluminum trailer.

Thinking all I would need to do is add a winch and maybe buy race ramp extensions. I could easily buy the track to fasten to the wood floor so I could strap over the tires.

Thoughts? My concern is if the 7000lb trailer is enough for a 3850lb car.

It's more than enough trailer sir. Look on craigslist and try to find a good used one for cheap if you are paying cash. They absolutely tank in resale value, use this towards your advantage.

A friend of mine asked to borrow my truck and trailer to take his 1le to the tuner after a whipple install. It is the same as the one you are looking at.

Trailer works... I'm not a fan of wood decks. I prefer a steel deck. It doesnt specify the size of the frame, which I would look into what size channel is used for the frame. 7000 lbs is obviously enough.

Fwiw I got my 18' steel deck, 7000 lbs, 5" channel frame for $3100

Make sure if you buy used to have the axles and brake drums (or rotors if equipped) checked out. The best have galvanized axles. I bought a used one and the steel axles and drums rotted out in 2 years. Trailer was about 5 years old and looked great when I bought it. I replaced with galvanized axles and rotors. Dual axle. Cost about $1700 to replace all with labor. If you drive in northern climates where salt is used on the road they won't last very long if steel.

I agree wood decks are not the best but installing the tie down strips would be way easier than drilling through steel. Strapping over the tire looks like the only easy way to tie one down.

I've pulled with a 7000 lb trailer for dozens of years. My last open trailer had 3500 lb axles which most open 18 to 20 trailers do. My enclosed trailer has 5000 lb axle. You'll be just fine, I had two boxes on the front to carry stuff in and the rest went in the back of my truck. I like that they put the tread plate on the 2' dovetail. However I don't like the ramps that slide in the side and I've had several of those. My last open slid in the rear and you just had to pull them straight out the back and put them in place. Still looks like a nice trailer

Another note: measure how high the top of the fender is, from the deck of the trailer.... particularly on the drivers side. And make sure your door will clear it. It's a pita if it doesnt

I called and the fender is removable on the drivers side.

And to the comment above I didnt notice the ramps were in the side. Yeah that will be a pain. My last trailer they came out the back.

Ummmmm the trailer in the first post does not have side loading ramps... they are rear loading. It even says so in the description

Diamond C is a solid trailer maker. I've been looking at their steel one with the split tail.

I have not seen one with side ramp storage and the person on the phone may have been mistaken. Also, these fenders come off with a bolt, but that will be a must with your car.

Same place has one a little cheaper.
