Oil confusion
Hello everyone, I need some help because I’m getting so many different answers from different dealers.
What oil is recommended for my 2018 ZL11LE? I track the car one a month. Is it 15/50, 5/30, or 0/40. Some dealers say 5/30 is what Chevrolet recommends and change to 15/50 for track days and then another will say something completely different. I’ve been reading the posts about 0/40 ESP and it sounds like that is what I should be using. Need the wisdom of my Camaro bros. Thanks, Jay |

Engine Oil
(OW-40 or 5W-40 that meets the dexos2TM specification. If this oil is not available, you can use Valvoline® SynPowerTM MST 5W-40 or Mobil 1® 15-W-50 engine oil) https://my.chevrolet.com/content/dam...tion-guide.pdf

According to the 2018 track preparation guide the ZL1 1LE needs 15w50 for track use.

5W-30 Street, 15W-50 track for ZL1 1LE. That's what I stick to.

15W/50 for track... ...That's the only official recommendation for the 2018 ZL1 1LE. You can use other stuff, but this is the official recommendation

^ This. Read your HP Supplement. The ZL1-1LE oil recommendations are different than the other models.

Well lets be sure:
For the ZL1 the factory fill for 2019, which is backward compatible and recommended to previous years is Mobil 1 ESP Formula 0W-40 which is Dexos 2 specification. This is to be used on the street and on the track. In the ZL1 1LE, the track recommendation is Mobil 1 15W-50. See the 2018 Track prep guide: |

Thanks everyone. I guess I’ll start using the 15/50 for 3 days a month again. Seems like a waste to use only for 3 days, but I want my motors to last.
Thanks again! |
