yet another 'speeding ticket' story
Was being followed for about a half mile or so by Leo, flips on his lights, I pull over. He walks up to my passenger side, asks me if I have any idea why he pulled me over. I replied (as I have always taught my boys to say also) "NOPE, I do not". He says he was pacing me at 64 mph. I then asked why would I be getting pulled over? He says 9 over is a just reason. I then proceed to inform this pillar of law that the posted speed limit sign a mile back is 65mph, and that I was in total obeyance (is that a word?) of the posted speed limit. He didn't believe me. alright, Im already late for work, I demanded his supervisor, which pulled up 20 min later. They discussed it, and agreed that I was in fact correct, BUT, he assumes I had gone over the speed limit at some point since I own a Camaro. I piped up, yup, I have, now you just have to prove it. Am i free to go? They let me go, but of course after telling me the reason Im not getting a ticket for the tint, was because of the whole inconvenience. HAHA..... I dont think ALL cops are bad, just the asshole ones.....

So was this cop a good one or a bad one? You were going over the limit (albeit not enough to matter) and you are implying that your tint is not legal. I'd say this was one of the "good" ones.

Cops love pulling over camaro owners IMHO, although I've been known to deserve it now and again

Sorry, I misread... I thought it says 69, not 64. My bad.

I've never been bothered in my Camaro. I have illegal tint and do speed, but do know there is a time and place for everything as well as have a radar detector.

Yup. I got a ticket the very 1st weekend that I bought my bright red shiny convertible. Last ticket was over 30 years ago. I have owned many muscle cars over those years, I attributed to the red color lol

So the cop thought it was 55! But you are doing 64 in a 65, that is so lame!

If you have the red hot color, GM does call it, 'pull me over red!'

Actually that is a good speed assuming he was driving to work during commute hours. In the SF Bay Area, if I don't leave home at 6 am, I will only be using the first three gears on my drive to work.

well, my 'alleged' story is true. And as far as me being a smart-ass, tell me at what point in my 'alleged' story i was being a smart ass to the cop? He asked me if i knew why i was being pulled over. KNOWING i was going AT or UNDER the posted speed limit, I DID NOT KNOW why I was being pulled over... So with him arguing the fact he THOUGHT it was a 55 mph zone, when in fact it was a 65 mph zone, I chose to not listen to him and ask for his supervisor, which i knew would have to drive past the same sign that I saw. Would you have taken the ticket and then have to fight it in court? that, my friend would have been stupid, Still want to know what part of the story you thought I was being a smart-ass too! please share! |
