1970 GSX Stage 1 vs Grand Cherokee SRT

Our older Muscle Cars are getting beat by our SUV's now

C'mon man! What do you expect? Our old car technology is over 50 years old and it still put up a good fight. The Buick wins hands down in the looks and coolness factor. Let's see how cool that Jeep is in 5 decades.

Is that yours a 71 Cutlass S 350/350

I would spend the money on the GSX rather than the SRT, about 1992 I had the chance to buy a 70GSX it was missing the 455 and had a 350 in it's place. The guy wanted 10k for the car and it was a 4sp yellow car
I didn't get it as I just picked up my 92 5.0L 5sp and just got married, the wife informed me that I would be living in the Buick if I picked it up LOL.

I was just pointing out how fast the new cars and SUV's are my RT would be faster than most of the fastest cars from the Muscle Car era, and it took 40 plus years for that to happen.

Yep, that's my '71 Cutlass. One of many projects. My Father bought it in '78 and it was his hot-rod project for 10 years then gave it to me when he bought a '80 Z/28. The Olds has a 350 built to W31 specs, TH400 and 3.91 posi. I hear you on the new technology vehicles, love my '15 Z/28. Don't get me started on the electric vehicles. 11 sec 1/4 miles are impressive but they have the personality of a golf cart. I firmly believe they have no soul.

GSX is my favorite car irrelevant of price or attainability. Saturn yellow is the only color I want one in as well.

Do you have any good pictures of your build?

In stock trim, old muscle cars haven't been fast since the 70s. A 2.0T Camaro would probably beat my big block 69 Chevelle.

The 70's Muscle Cars were fast right up to the early 90's then in the last 15 years they have been eclipsed by the latest and greatest in the 1/4

I could've told you this. Another thing that may surprise people, my daily driver Malibu, stock for stock, would beat quite a few base muscle cars! The advent of technology is the biggest reason for this.

Desirability, that's a totally different subject. Very few cars from today could match the desirability of a sixties muscle car IMO.

Unfortunately I don't have any build pictures as the "resto" was done in the late seventies. Somewhere in my clutter archives I have a few Polaroids taken during body/paint but they're playing an unintentional game of "hide and go seek" with me.

Just got to say how much I love the looks of your (and every) '69 Chevelle. Hot Rod magazine had an add for the SS 396 in that year titled "The Class Bully". I salivated over that car as a youth. Still do.

I'd still rather have the Buick.

Agreed 100%. An SRT GC that most people do not even recognize as being a "special model" or a classic GSX? This is an easy choice.
