Front Brake Pad Replacement
How difficult is it to just replace the front pads? I've searched the forum and couldn't find an answer. Is it as simple as knocking out the pins, pulling the pads out and slapping the new ones in? Of course pushing the pistons back a little. No need to remove caliper or bracket?

yes with brembos it is very easy probably half an hour or so but you need to remove the caliper if you want to turn the rotors

How are the pins held in? Do they unscrew, or are the retained by clips?

Brembo pins are just friction press fit. Lethal’s vid is good. Start at 2:58.

What he calls a bracket, I think of as a sort of retaining clip. Easy peasy to pull the pads, it would seem. Harder to jack up the car and pull the wheels.

OK friends, I have a 2017 Camaro SS Convertible w/40k miles. It's in the shop for a sensor that tells me the top is not secure and they call about the 120 inspection they do when you bring it in for any service. They say the break pads on the front are good on the outside pad but the inside pads are eating into the rotors. To replace the pads and rotors is $1,000. I can do it at home but having a horrible time finding the rotors. My Rotor code is J6G any suggestions or Help with a website or location. Im in Dallas/Ft.Worth.

the cross bridge bolt (13mm) has to be removed along with the pins. Make sure to open the hood and crack open the master cylinder cap before depressing the pistons with the old pad. Do one pad at a time to keep the pistons on the opposite side from moving into the open space. A large screwdriver will suffice to gently apply force. Don't over torque the cross bridge bolt as a few here have broken it by using gorilla force. Once finished, close the master cylinder cap and hood. Depress the brake pedal twice before driving as the pedal will go nearly to the floor on the first two attempts.
