Uniden R3 cutting power
I have a Uniden R3 with the Gen5Diy harness attached to a blend mount. Most of the time when I lose traction and spin the tires power will be cut to my radar and will turn off and not turn back on. I have experienced this with a mirror tap harness and the current plug and play one from gen5diy now. Has anyone experienced this and found a fix?

I have experienced this as well on the same setup (R3 /w gen5diy harness and blendmount) - thought it might just be a bad harness or poor connection, but haven't investigated it further. Two or three times it has also randomly cut out while just driving straight at lower speeds (no traction loss). Would be interested to hear of a possible reason or fix.

Haven't had it cut in normal driving (yet) but it seems to only happen with Uniden radars. Have posted the same question in a FB group and people with v1's and 360's don't seem to have the problem. But i can shake the Uniden like crazy and it won't turn off. So I don't think it's the radar. It's very confusing

How interesting, I have this issue as well and assumed it was a loose connection. I am not using a harness, rather I am using the little pins that slide into the oem harness connectors. By the way, I also get a low battery warning on the detector sometimes when I startup the car. I never had either issue while using the OEM lighter power thing.

I have the R3 and Gen5DIY plug n play harness. I dont have a blend mount, just use the factory suction cup mount positioned to the left of the mirror. I have not had this issue in over a year.

Sounds like the Uniden R3 is pulling to many amps, and is sending the BCM into safety mode, OP can you call me at work ask for Ofer, we may have a new harness for your car, any one that has our harness with the Uniden R3 get a hold of me and will see if we can get it right with you, ones more ask for me and let me know that you have a Uniden R3.

TY sir, I have the same setup as you (R3, and gen5 harness) very interested in this..
@Gen5DIY - can we exchange our cables for the revised/newer one if this fixes the issue?

I to am having the same problem. When traction control comes on the R will shut off. BUT if I disable traction control I do not have any problems with the R3 turning off. Weird

Following this thread.
I too have a Uniden R3, Gen5DIY Harness, and Blendmount in my 6th gen. I have not had this issue, yet. But I’ve also had very little seat time in the Camaro lately due to weather, work, and health. But I have the Gen5DIY harness in my truck and have yet to have the OPs issues happen there. Guess swapping cables soon.

On the way home from work today found an empty lot and made traction control and stabilitrack come on. Not hard in wet weather lol. Unit stayed on, no issues and no lights on dash other than TSC and Stabilitrack activating. So it seems like this is a Camaro specific issue. But I haven’t tried in my Camaro yet. Hope this info helps Ofer. And looking forward to a solution and if need to swap my Camaro cable it’s easy to remove it luckily lol.
