Yep. Get the car out NOW. Even if you have to have a tow truck haul it somewhere just down the road to park it for a few days. I've been down this road before. As others have said, nothing good is going to come from this.

Ask him about the MAP, or if anybody can confirm. I was told I would be OK with pumps and injector swap driving mine (but has a custom tune)
But good luck, i hope can help.

I think that is easier said than done. He is not going to let me just pick it up and flat bed it out of there without some sort of payment and I am not going to pay a penny if it comes down to that. So there is a bit of a legal dilemma here. I am basically at his mercy until this gets completed.

I wouldn't say I did half the work but we have not discussed that yet.

Maybe some of the NorCal club guys can come and help get your car out of purgatory. I would have lost my shit already. I'd suggest calling a lawyer and seeing what legal options you have to just go and pick up the car.

No, he's at your mercy. Get ahold of a lawyer if you have to. Act fast. The longer you wait the worse it will get. A lot of shops are full of shit and will dangle your bits around and charge you for all of it.

Tell him you want the car out and you're contacting a lawyer.

I didn’t ignore anyone. I was under the impression that the car was being worked on. Am I just supposed to go pick it up when it’s all torn apart??? I also work 60 hours/week and this shop is 2 hours away so factor that in. Don’t be so quick to pass judgement when you don’t know my side of the story and aren’t in my shoes.

I'll add another facet to this horror story. I was in the same position several years back and was getting the run-around. I almost left it there too long. I finally got it towed out just hours before the bankruptcy court put a lock on the place. The car was literally in pieces with major items missing.

My lawyer friend told me it's a nightmare getting your car back after basically being impounded as part of a court order, even though the title is in your name. The premise is they want to recover any parts not paid for up front, so it's up to you to prove ownership of the car and parts.

Don't let this happen to you.

This is why a shop's reputation is so important...but even then you have to take everything with a grain of salt because you never know if a person's review of a shop is legit or blinded by friendship.

I hope OP eventually gets his car back and in the state he expects it.
