HID Ballasts Placement

Hey guys, first post. Got a 2014 Chevy Camaro 1LS for my 21st birthday an couple months ago and I’m stoked about it. I installed HID lights, 35 watt @ 5000K, to replace the factory halogen. For those who have worked on it, I’m sure some of you have seen the spacing in the headlight behind the bulb. This is where I put my ballasts and wires. I did not want to have to drill a hole in the dust cap so the wires could come through, nor did I want to do any drilling to set the ballasts somewhere under the hood.
Is this a bad idea? Will the ballasts overheat? How did y’all do it?
Thanks!
