2010 SS Camaro GM factory performance exhaust question/help

Hey guys. I recently purchased a 2010 2SS camaro and it has the performance exhaust package and recently added BBK LT headers. Before the headers were installed it was was louder than any other stock SS I have seen/heard. Now the headers are installed (and CAI) it sounds like a totally new beast. My main question is what exactly does the performance exhaust package include? My knowledge is very limited so please work with me. As mean as it sounds now the Headers are installed, it is a little too raspy for my taste and am also looking to upgrade to something the a deeper tone and would love recommendations. My budget is limits me to an axle back rather than a full catback, I am considering the borla S type or flowmaster american thunder.

- i went catless btw, Any input helps!

You will have designation of NPP on the RPO tag in the trunk, left side. It is a vacuum operated system that controls chambers in the mufflers, you will also have quad tips out back. Under hard acceleration it opens a straight thru chamber in the mufflers. I have LTH, no cats, 3 inch back to my factory NPP exhaust, fits my taste.

Must be aftermarket. Don't believe that option was available in 2010

Your 2010 won’t have the NPP from the factory unless someone added it, more than likely someone changed your axle/catback. Can you snag a picture of the mufflers(if there are any) by the rear bumper.

GM sometimes offer "GMPP" variants of their exhaust. I believe they had an axle-back that you could buy for the car that was an unbranded Borla. So you might already have a borla axle-back on your car.

The mufflers say GM factory performance. But I believe you are 100 % correct. So where do I go from here? would purchasing the borla S type axle back even be an upgrade? I want it loud but I want it deep. Other wise I would go with the ATAK.

Yeah that's the GMPP axle-back that they optioned the car with.

I'm not sure what is really deep on a catless LT setup. Especially only doing an axle-back.

I would save up for a cat-back s-type and then try to sell your axle-back to make up some of the cost. I don't think any axle-back will give you the tone that you want.

Hell, even just putting a stock LS3 cat-back on might give you a good tone. Just not crazy loud.

Appreciate you're input. What do you think about adding an X pipe to my current "borla like" axle back. Would that basically make it a catback no?

A cat back is really just a name. It will give you no discernable performance gain......only mild change in tone. (And that depends on what you are combining it with) My suggestion; add some cats and go from there.

Yeah you could try that, or adding in catted downpipe connections to your longtubes.

If you went catless then you'll need to add cats to tone down rasp. As for your exhaust it is an axle back exhaust that sounded MUCH better than the normal suitcase mufflers that were installed on 2010's standard. If you're wanting a deep sounding exhaust you'll want Stainless Works Retro Chambered catback. I think there's a used one for sale in the for sale sub-forum. It is a great sounding exhaust and the deepest I've heard. However, I run Solo Perfomance mach xl catback and I LOVE it. It has a great "old school" muscle car tone, IMO.
