3:73 gears

anyone use these gears in a trutrac ? I'm seriously thinking of them as a mid point between 3:45 and 3:91 for my six speed 3:91 too steep for my tastes between first and second. thoughts? experiences? just need to raise the cruising gears a little and hole shot value. thanks the oldman.......

Just drove home with my new 3.91’s and although I didn’t hammer on it the car felt great. Now too low geared. The way it should have been from the factory. Still cruised at 2000 rpm at 75. My opinion, don’t waste the money only going to 3.73’s. 3.91’s or live with stock.

I agree with Rich2010. I have 3.91s and it feels normal. I can efficiently use 6th at freeway cruising speeds now too. Car should have came with them.

that's what I mean though, I want to cruise at 80-85 @ 2k rpm. also not have to jump from 1st to 2nd quickly. never did like leaving in 2nd also

1st isn’t over that quick, you’ll still hit 47 in 1st and 69 in 2nd. I’ll attach a pick with your speed per gear with 3.91 and a 6500 red line.

My car has a decent cam and I start in first around 1500 rpm. Still has plenty to go. I daily drive it in traffic. I'm 100% positive you'd like the 3.91s

in fact, doing a 3.73 would be a complete waste of money in my opinion. You probably wouldn't even notice a difference.

they did come with 3.91's if you got the 1LE it would have been nice as a option for the SS .

1LE with 3.91 has almost the same final drive ratio as the SS because it has a different gear set in the transmission.

understood, I had found a web site that gave you speed and rpm for each gear when I built my forth gen the t56 for that year had the same gear ratio as the 5th gen 1le. if any one knows of a web site that offers that so a mathematically challenged old man can understand I would appreciate it . the oldman...........

With your trutrac how often are you changing the gear oil?
