Can I get a recommendation for Octane Booster?
Short story is, this is for my 99 Z28 and not my 6th Gen SS. My 99 Z28 is LS3 swapped and the knock sensors had to be disabled (they were causing too many problems and it was tuned by a reputable tuner.) … I’m going to be taking to from Austin to Bowling Green for Camarofest but want to be prepared on the off chance I run into a station that is out of premium fuel. What can I use to boost 87 to 93… or even 91 to 93 and how much of it will I need?

Boosters like Boostane, Torco, etc...will all raise octane ony by a few points at best. They also wear out plugs and O2 sensors much faster. But sometimes that small increase can mean the difference between knock and no knock

Let’s say I am forced to get 87 Octane, if I use multiple bottles of Boostane or Torco, can I increase it up to 93? I only intend to use this in the event of an emergency.

Definitely but also realize that much could possibly mess up plugs and 02 sensors. I would think one time would be fine (even with a couple bottles) but can't say for sure

False. Boostane will give you several full numbers should you desire. Points are only tenths of a full number, and while that’s typical of what you get from most gas station octane boosters, it’s not the case for Boostane. I routinely add only 3 oz to a full tank of 93 to bring it up to 96 octane.

just wondering, is just one bottle of boostane or torco enough to destroy plugs and O2's? I was only intending for like maybe one or two fillups at best.

Another option, that I use, is Race Gas brand race fuel concentrate.

Enough? More like hardly any. It only takes 3 oz of Boostane to go from 93 to 96, and it comes in 32 oz cans which is $30. So that works out to be only $3.00 to boost a whole tank of gas, or about $0.20 per gallon. Granted, shooting for very high octane numbers like 100+ gets much more expensive, but that boost to 96 is damn cheap IMO.

The point vs. number thing is always so ambiguous. Some brands seem to use point as a tenth of an octane number, while others use it to mean an octane number.

The big problem is the deposit. I am not talking about the fact that it may or may not disrupt your spark plug, O2 sensor or catalytic converter, I am talking about the unique orange deposit being a telltale sign for a dealer to deny your warranty claims should something go wrong, as the Owner's Manual does specifically warn against using MMT-based octane boosters. A bit unfortunate, as most effective octane boosters out there will use MMT. Because of this, I returned my octane booster and just decided to use Redline Si-1. I am not expecting much out of the anti-knocking effect, but if anything, cleaning out the engine while driving it on the track isn't a bad deal in itself, and Redline Si-1 is pretty good at doing that, at least. Edit: I noticed that this is not for a 6th Gen that may still have a warranty on it. In this case, I think you are fine. I did dump one bottle of STP racing booster in a friend's Mazda6 just as a safety net as he has left the car sitting for almost a year without any fuel stabilizer. The car ran fine without any issues.
