Short Trips
So I bought my Camaro last year during Covid and I was sent home to work remote already. Well we are getting the call to have to come back to the office. I work 2.8 miles from where I live. Do any of you guys have a short trip like this? When I'm at the office I come home for lunch every day. So essentially that is 4 trips 2.8 miles back and forth. I know on our daily drivers this wears on tires and brakes very quickly. Am I being overly cautious?

LOL... Ya, I figured I was just being overly cautious. Don't ask me why I got in my own head, but I did and I'm good at it....

You just need to plan a several hundred or thousand mile road trip.

I have also returned to office and my commute is ~8 miles each way. I COULD go home for lunch, but rarely do. That said, I very often will take the "long" route and add some time to my drive, perhaps doubling each trip. I just enjoy it too much to be done with my drive in under 10 minutes.
I also do regular long drives, cruises, occasional road trip, etc. As already stated, just enjoy it!!!!! |

when I bought mine in NOV I bought it because I was still driving my little family sedan to work and back. Only 2.5 miles, but I made it work by taking roadtrips to friends, etc.
No regrets on the new car and now my commute in Florida is about 5 miles or perhaps a bit more to work.

Every time I was in my Camaro, I squawked the tires at least once... I would assume that causes more tire wear than daily driving. Tires should be looked at as "how soon do I have to replace these" not "how long can I make them last". Chewing through the tires is part of the fun of owning a sports car. With having a manual, I also rarely had to use the brakes much either.

Those are fun trips. Just did 1800 miles the weekend before last. TN to MA, stayed on Sunday and drove around a little, then MA to TN on Monday. She loves the road. 27mpg average over the run though with a 73mph avg speed. With some well in to triple digits. Surprisingly comfortable. Had windows down for a lot of it before the humidity wore me down. And HOLY HELL the cicadas.
