Another move the harness thread (with pictures)

Just another driver's side rear harness move thread with some pictures.

I moved my harness, adjusted the material/screws to offset it away from the hub, and rolled the material. Looks good!

Pictures show original material, original harness, rerouted harness, and rolled material. Note, screw in bottom right below brake lines shows in both the first and last picture how I moved the material even further away from the hub up against the sheet metal.

Very well done! Must have taken a while to take it down to that level compared to most!

Thanks for posting this...my stock tire may be rubbing, I see wear at that location. (Or it could be when the wheels were secured for transport) Anyway, saving this post for when I retrofit the pads. Maybe I’ll do this relocation while there.

Yeah that rub was from stock tire size.

Thanks for the post. I'm going to be doing this soon myself for some Mickeys.

Did you use heat to flatten the liner or something like that?

I did the exact same thing, the exact same way, using a heat gun and roller. Results are near perfect and allow for much more room. Currently on 20x11.5" wheel 325/30/20 tire with +41 offset and still have a bit more room inside before rubbing.

Good job!

What are you heating and rolling? I get that you rerouted the harness but I am not understanding this part. Thanks in advance.

Is this mod so you can run larger tires? Thanks!

They heated and flattened the fender liner surface material itself to better conform to the metal underneath, to make it flat as possible clear as much as possible. Without doing that, it bulges out in certain spots and is more likely to contact big tires and wear through... or even get caught and pulled/shredded off car.

I even took it a step further after flattening. I drilled a new hole pretty much dead center behind the liner where it’s not flat and put a body panel fastener in it. Matches all the others, looks stock and it’s not going anywhere.
