55th Anniversary Camaro?

You may have seen this reported by GM Authority:

https://gmauthority.com/blog/2020/12...n-the-horizon/

I don't think a 55th milestone is as special as a 50th (yah, I'm probably a little biased ). I know there was 45th Anniversary Camaro-no 40th as the Camaro was not in production at the time.

What do you all think?

Why not? It might sell a few more new Camaros which is a good thing!

I couldn’t agree more. If it would sell more Camaro’s then it’s a damn good thing.

Heh, if they decide to sell a ZL1 with the pre-refresh rear design and some nice 55th anniversary visual extras, I will hop on board.

IMHO, there should be both a simple commemoration that costs nothing (much like the 'fifty' badge on the steering wheel of the 2017's) and an actual styling package that has a cost associated with it. A few tasteful additional badge items, maybe (and I do mean maybe) special wheels, and a very simple graphic add-on - all that are only available on the anniversary edition (regardless of what anniversary it is). The 'fifty' in the wheel of the 2017's doesn't make them collectible, and that's what you really want to strive for. The add-on cost shouldn't be exorbitant because these cars are spendy enough (which is why special wheels maybe AREN'T part of the anniversary package, but maybe there ARE anniversary wheels that require the anniversary package).

Don't misunderstand what I'm thinking, either - I'm not suggesting anything along the lines of "Official Pace Car" type graphics and such as those have a very specific appeal. Now, on the other hand, if it turns out that the Camaro -IS- the official pace car for that year, while Camaro's are on the track racing, then that's a whole different direction it could go.

Then announce that the Camaro will stop production and they'll sell like hot cakes.

It has already ended production once and that didn't cause sales numbers to go up. It won't happen this time around either.

This time it'll likely go away forever, though. Any new electric "version" that may come next will be something else altogether.

You sound like the news media. I guess you don't want to give up your sources.
