Throttle Percentage

Hi all, need a little help. Took the car to the dyno the other day and was not happy with the results. Did a little logging today to see what I could find and noticed that my throttle percentage as displayed by the Aeroforce gauge never goes past 83% at wot no matter the gear. I'm new to the platform and was wondering is this normal or is there an issue with the tune and 95mm throttle body?

Thanks!

This is normal. The gauge is probably linked to the SAE throttle position channel, and 83-84% is how far it goes even with the pedal to the floor. I'm not an expert, it looks like an endpoint calibration peculiarity with our cars.

I'll see if I can get one from the tuner Monday, thanks! I did my logging today (if you even want to call it that) with the Aeroforce and don't have much info. Throttle percentage and knock retard only. I can measure some more perimeters with Torque tomorrow if that would do any good?

With the mods in my sig (on 93) the car only made 414 rw. This is on the dyno at the performance shop I work at part time. Been using it for years and it's spot on, but I was surprised that a ported msd, longtubes, tb and tuning would only net 414. Our tuner has been doing it for 25 years so I'd be shocked if that was the issue, but certainly can't rule it out. I'm kind of wondering if perhaps the torque converter is not in good condition. Car had the shudder real bad when I purchased it. No idea how long it was happening with previous owner. Dealer flushed and fixed but part of me is wondering if the tc needs replacing.

Like me, you have an automatic trans, and our cars typically produce around 385-390 rwhp stock, which is 15-30 rwhp less than typical M6 cars. Then again, I'm no expert, but 414 rwhp doesn't sound too bad for those mods, plus different dyno runs under different conditions or different cars aren't comparable—the only reliable way to evaluate would be a baseline of your car while stock, compared to runs after mods, preferably under identical or very similar conditions.

If the shudder returns, you should push for TC replacement with the dealer. As far as I know, the torque converter locks up under load, so performance will only suffer if it's no longer able to, which would show in the logs as slip percentage.

Yeah that’s really low on any dyno with those mods. I don’t think a tuner could make up that much difference unless something was seriously out of whack, but there can definitely be a big difference between tuners on this platform. Even a lot of them that are normally great on LS motors don’t seem to get the numbers Pray or GPI do on these.

Thanks man, appreciate it. I spoke with our guy and that's about what he said. He'd see it in the logs.

Would have loved to have gotten baselines but the shop has been slammed and I just couldn't wait for an opening to start the modding lol.

Thanks. I'm in a sticky situation a bit with our tuner as I work with him daily, so I have to approach it just right I keep reading about torque management and the throttle blade closing some if not addressed with tuning, but I don't know enough about tuning to even know how to address it with him. He said he set the torque tables properly but I have no idea if there's more to it?

Really trying not to get too worked up about it until I can get to the strip.

Appreciate the help!

83% is pretty typical across all makes. It must be an OBD2 thing.

You can double check it using the voltage out put.

One way to tell is to somehow place a camera in a position to make sure your TB Butterfly is wide open when you step on it. Harbor freight sells the scoped cameras with the flexible tube for looking into crevices.

Trying to upload a log file but it's .hpl format and the site won't upload it. Any ideas?

Thanks
